Let's push this over their meager top, for PBH. I sent a few pennies (another time, my refund from Peter), it's getting a lot of good mileage.
I see they're up to $550 (now $570). How about a couple BIG talkers/spenders(?), for these children?
Christmas only comes once a year. Imagine a child with nothing, and a family without enough to eat. There are surely very many in Colombia, like here in Panamá.
What a pity we still have no forum to also advance these projects here in neighboring Panamá. But I guess nobody has ever requested that, like the many members must have from Viet Nam.
Maybe it's still on the list?
Sorry to hold your feet to the fire, Peter, but you "semi promised" long ago, after numerous requests.
It's obvious that there is no almost no interest in most of the countries that you list, so maybe you might just FOCUS?
But, I am retired and no longer need to work to make a living, so what do I know?
Seems that some people think "everybody's outa step but me".
I will throw in my 2 cents on the Panama Forum. I think for most of us with a connection to Colombia, it is the place of choice for retirement, but Panama has to be right up there too with all the perks and benefits they offer. I would also like to see a Panama Forum.
Donations up to $670. now :) Come on folks. lets peg out the indicator at $2500

Since we're not asking for any PBH donations this year, consider this your chance to donate if you feel like it. Here's that link again: http://colombiareports.com/crs-xmas-action.html Every dollar counts!
Mark Kaseman from the ColReports story stopped by the other day and picked up the clothes and sporting goods I brought back from the States last week for the kids... (gotta love those Kmart 60-70% off sales)... He's having the BIG christmas party on Dec 19th for the kids if anyone wants to help out....
I especially like charities that benefit the children. We have a couple good ones here in Panamá too, like Rotary International, and Esperanza, and of course there is Save the Children, but I've become a bit disenchanted with them.

I have my own Christmas for the poor near the farm and for the prison, Las Mercedes. I fund it myself as it is the right thing to do. Christmas is one day of the year. Anyone that can, could and should help the less fortunate every month of the year. This way I know for sure that the people receive it and that they need it.

I'll match a couple, three, 25 or 50$ pledges, and you don't have to gamble with fruitloop. This is the real ( GENUINE) world, not some fokin' huckster's stupid game.
But please don't copy me with your paypal donation because I think those who would donate are trustworthy.
I've already donated Peter's refund from the wheelchair project, twice over, but that's OK. It's almost Christmas, and most people can support more than one charity.
Hey big spenders/talkers!
This seems a worthwhile charity, even though is not in the country where I live. But that's not important. There are poor and needy people everywhere.
But darloup, good luck with your game. I hope that it might benefit this charity, although a simple donation might be easier.

* i do not think the CR's site will list all the donations and participants though.
i will probably hit it one or two more time this week. it would also be interesting to hear the stories of others donating their time or money toward other similar causes this holiday season.
* i guess those who donate will know the name of the acting treasurer ;)
If you are in Medellin this Saturday the 19th and want to see how your Donations were spent, you are more than welcome to attend the Party.....(Mark Kaseman said that helpers are always WELCOME)..... By the way, thanks to all the Donations received so far, Marks list has grown to add more children than originally expected.... I believe he's at more than 650 children now for presents, and food for more than 400 families....

Man, how GREAT!
Be great if someone could snap a few fotos and put them up here, for those who can't be there.

Mark told me that ColReports furnished a list of Donors, so you will recieve photos and a thank you personally (electronically)..........Even though I have to cancel all my classes on Saturday and ride the Metro Cable to the top and then get on a bus to go to who knows where, (Mark says I dont want to take my car on those dirt roads) I am actually excited about this Weekend.... If anyone wants to make the trip, get in touch with me please....
Peter there is someone over on Colombianblog that connected with a group in Barranquilla that is doing a project this year for kids, I forget how much in clothes and toys He shipped to Killa.

... is that guy in Medellin, Mark Kaseman, a PBH member?
keep up the good work.
Most fun, would be to be there, helping to Pass Out the Gifts!

GoinSouth, Mark Kaseman has been to the PBH site, but as a spectator... I think they had a member freeze on at the time...The Leon 13 school is above Bello... Get off the Cable at the Library and then you have to go further up on a little bus..... I get to experience it tomorrow.....
$1,720! I'd be curious to how much came from PBH members, although it's not really important.
What is important is that people, from wherever, have come together to make Mark's dream come true, and make life a little more comfortable for some people less fortunate.

One evening before the big event we have been able to raise More than 1700 bucks. Mark spent most of it on food, but also a significant amount of toys. Tomorrow the food and toys will be distributed. Because more money came in after we spent it Mark will go up the mountain another day again this week to help an extra group of families, so if you want to add another few bucks, please feel free, not one dollar will not be spent on food and toys.
I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for making this charity drive such an amazing success. We are able to give serious food supplies to more than 500 families and toys to more than 750 children. It is hard to imagine the extent of how you have been able to help. You seriously made a big difference.
Me and Mark will be taking photos we'll share with you over the weekend.
Again, thank you all so very much and a very merry Christmas,

Sloopskipper: they were a group of volunteer recreationists, they made a show for kids. It was the group with black shirts and red pants.
Whitewidow: This place is up to Santo Domingo Metro Cable Station. it is called "El Pinal".
