PBH Dedicated Email

What's with you all?

I can't believe how many of you guys don't enable your contact info. That makes no sense. Are you worried that someone might send you nasty email like they do me when I say anything negative about Colombia? Just kidding....I can't remember the last time that happened.

Email accounts are free. You can do it like I do and set up an account that is dedicated to PBH. You don't have to look at it every day. But, if people want to comment to you about a post, or to discuss a matter further in private, or get this.....to apologize, (it does happen here) they are more likely to do it in a PM that goes to your email, than post it for the world to see. I am serious about this. Many times people get offended about something in a post that they deemed was directed toward them. You can resolve it in an email, and most importantly, if you can handle it in an email....it keeps the argument from going on endlessly on a particular thread. IT works......count on it.

Then there are instance where there is something that you have special knowledge about, that causes people to seek more information from you. You might even meet a new friend.

It just makes no sense to not have some form of contact information. Create a dedicated PBH email account. You will be glad you did so.....

Thanks for the reminder I didn't realize they'd enabled that feature. It was a bummer when the old private message system was lost during the switch of platforms.

Oh man oh man Gomez, boy are there a lot of things I'd love to say to you via e-amil that would get me kicked out of here if I said them on the board! Thanx for reminding me of that feature.

Not so fast Simon....Not so Fast When I mean that you should get a dedicated email account, I am saying that it would be connected through the contact tab under the PBH members name. You always could have clicked on my name"Gomezman5", and it will have a tab to contact me. If you click on it, you will be able to send me a PM. The PM does not appear on the web site, it is forwarded to an email account that you provide in your personal information.

What that means is that you will need to use PBH to contact me. If you use PBH to contact me, you cannot use the site to harass people (myself or others). I am quite sure that is NOT what Peter intends for people to use the contact for.

I will say this, this set up is not nearly as user friendly as the old version. In the old version, people could PM each other back and forth all the time without ever having to recieve or send messages through their email. This set up does not allow for it. In some ways, while Peter has made some positive changes, this seems like a step backwards. I don't know any other web forum that I participate in where one member cannot send a PM to another without having to resort to emailing. I really don't know why Peter eliminated the PM function. Forcing people to have to send message through email can be annoying in that you may not want to reveal your email to that person, even if it is someone you have a cordial relationship with.

On the other hand Simon............since my email goes to a hotmail account, once and/or if I have your email address, I can merely block you from sending me future emails......unless of course you keep sending them directly from PBH. In that case, if you send me the type of emails that you, by your own words claim that you will send me, I'll just forward a copy to moderation, and Peter, and I feel confident, it is YOU who in the end, that will suffer the consequences. So send me just the type of email you are contemplating sending me......at your own peril. So....think twice, or even three times before your hand touches the keyboard when sending me something.

Oh, Calm Down G5. "I'll just forward a copy to moderation,..."

You made a damn good post/thread. And, then you going to ruin it at the end, by threatening Simon to whaaa-whaaa-whaa to moderation.

Just copy and paste it back onto the sight, so we can all jump into the ruckus! jaja
