PBH Poker Colombia Team (July)

Time to think about the PBH Poker Colombia Team July tourney on PokerStars ;-)

Should we revert to the "original" suggestion (e.g. for the tourney to take place of the first Sunday of every month) ? So the next PBH tourney would then take place on Sunday 5th of July...

Or do you have alternative (easily-remembered or more convenient) dates to suggest?

Just for your info: As you may know, I manage a bilingual Colombian forum (French and Spanish). Available here: http://www.darloup.com/forum/. I thought that I might apply to join the PokerStars "Affiliate program" on my forum site.

Here is the reply I received today from Pokerstars: "Sorry, your application was denied. The following comment was provided: At this time we do not feel that a web site about Colombia site is appropriate for our program."

Ah, Colombia and her overall bad reputation!

Colombia, as well as all of Latin America, are very important markets to Stars at the moment. I don't think their response is to be taken negatively about Colombia, more that they are looking a website more directly focused on poker or gambling for affiliates.

I have a personal request (not for me, but for a buddy).

There is this guy in Medellin who has a PS account but doesn't have access to a foreign currency account (nor to an international credit card). As such, he is thus utterly unable to credit his PokerStars account from Colombia.

My request (well, HIS request which I'm just passing along): Is there a kind soul in Medellin who would be prepared to do a transfer on PokerStars on my buddy's account? (I'd do it myself, but I can't yet accept COP).

This is what it woud entail:

- My buddy and the PBH kind soul meet face to face in Medellin
- My buddy gives so many COP (in cash) to the PBH kind soul
- The PBH kind soul then opens a PokerStars account (if he doesn't already have one)
- The PBH kind soul then transfers (in dollars) on my buddy's PS account whatever amount my buddy gave him in COP in Medellin

Sorry if this sounds complicated - it's not.

I'm just trying to help out someone living in Medellin who doesn't have access to foreign currencies.

PM me if you can help so that I can get both of you in touch - thanks!

One day left to register... Pedro, are you interested in joining?

I am willing to make the losses up for the 3rd person to join the tourney... so the worst you could do is end up even :)

congrats to Pedro for winning the tourney and outfoxing Darloup and I... until next time, hopefully we'll have a few more who join.

i would have made up losses to the third player who joined, so since the third player who joined won, that wasn't necessary for me to do ;)

Thanks to manInRed and Pedro for taking part. Sadly, CasasMedellin and Corey couldn’t make it this month.

Things went pretty quiet for the first 15 minutes. Pedro played a "tight non-aggressive game", and MIR a "tight semi aggressive game" (as usual, he raised preflop about 50% of the time).

Then I got a bunch of “mixed cards” for the next 10 minutes (Q10, J10, A9, etc…) and I made the mistake of playing them, mainly calling small bets. But to no avail. My stack slowly, but surely, diminished…

On the 40-minute mark, it was time for me to make my first "all-in" and my 66 held good against MIR’s A10. Having doubled up, I drew AQ and went all-in again. MIR called and showed… KK (big sigh) - the KK held. Oh well, this ended up as a 100% Medellín final.

MIR quieted down a bit and switched back to a less aggressive style of play against Pedro.

But Pedro, apart from his truly excellent style of play today, also happened to have luck with him this afternoon. He got not less 5 flushes in the tourney!

A first showdown happened then when MIR bet a lot on river and showed QQQ. Pedro showed… a flush (what else today?).

Then, it was time for MIR to go all-in and try to double up – which he did having drawn A10 preflop (a great hand in a face-to-face situation). Pedro showed 55 – also a great hand preflop. We had thus a 50-50 situation. Pedro’s continued good luck held and he rightfully the tourney!

Anyway, thanks for a great game! Remember that this is a regular tourney (first Sunday of every month) so we’ll see you on Sunday August 2nd!
