Passport Regulations on Entering Colombia

I have a Canadian passport that expires in 5 1/2 months. I know that some countries will not allow you entry if you passport has less then 6 months left on it. Thailand for example has this restriction. Do any of you know if this is true with Colombia?

This question has come up before and the consensus seemed to be that there was not a problem with the DAS as long as the validity exceeded the length of stay, but that the main risk was the airlines. Some seem to have a rule that the passport should be valid 3 motnhs beyond the return, for example Continental has that rule. Suggest you ring the airline if you are worried.

vicshere,

One way tickets are no problem if you are a Colombian or have a visa, don't you have a spousal visa or residency.

Chriscan it is really stupid. I would rather pay extra and have mine for 10 years than to go through all this hassle. You also have to supply two personqal references again and have a guarantor. They wave this if you get a certain document notorized (more money). I guess especially with circumstances nowadays there is a need to have a new passport issued every 5 years as I assume this new passport has more "security proof" stuff on it. I'm on a pension so as long as I can use my ATM I am ok. I have no real deadlines to meet or places I have to be.
