Paramilitaries threaten Canadian embassy in Bogotá
Submitted by WW4 Report on Fri, 06/20/2008 - 23:52.
Little more than a week after the Canadian government announced the completion of free trade talks with Colombia, that country's national daily, El Tiempo, reports [June 14] that the guilas Negras (Black Eagles), a violent right-wing paramilitary organization, has sent threatening emails to the Canadian Embassy in Bogotá.
The threats are reported to include references to the Embassy's granting exile to witnesses in the Colombian government's on-going "para-polÃtica" scandal, in which at least 65 Colombian Congress members are under investigation for direct links to paramilitary groups.
Twenty-nine Congress members, all supporters and close political allies of current Colombian president lvaro Uribe Vélez, are currently behind bars for proven links with paramilitary groups over which the government is suffering a serious legitimacy crisis.

One couple lived in the US before coming here. They said they would never go back to USA. Too many crackers or racists there or something like that. I'm not greedy I just want a lot. 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Took them for a trip to banff and jasper and toured the rocky mountains and they just loved it there. A man is not old until regret takes the place of dreams 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

romy says on Jun 23, 2008, 07:06: jinks are you based out of Alberta? we went out to Kananaskis for father's day and I've been wondering why I'm not out in the mountains more often. My brother's been doing some serving and he easily makes a Colombian minimum salary in an evening... oil money is spilling to to the service industry in crazy amounts that the city is now being flooded with people that provide these services. I might have to move back to Colombia sooner or later.
