Palin to Meet With Kissinger, Colombian President
By Elisabeth Bumiller
Gov. Sarah Palin will meet with former Secretary of State Henry A. Kissinger and President Alvaro Uribe of Colombia during the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, an aide to Senator John McCain’s presidential campaign said.

Ms. Palin, the Republican vice-presidential nominee, is to meet on the same day with President Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan.

The sessions are part of an effort to demonstrate that Ms. Palin is prepared to function in the world of foreign policy and national security at a time when she is under criticism for a lack of experience. Ms. Palin, who has been governor of Alaska for 20 months, got her first passport last year.

The McCain campaign provided no details about the time, place or issues to be discussed at the meetings.

But it is likely that Mr. Kissinger, a close outside adviser to Mr. McCain’s campaign, is likely to give her a broad overview of international affairs, focusing particularly on Russia, China and the Middle East. Mr. Kissinger, who was national security adviser and secretary of state in the Nixon and Ford administrations, is regularly called on by Mr. McCain for impromptu advice on foreign affairs.

Mr. Uribe is certain to talk to Ms. Palin about a crucial issue between his country and the United States, a proposed trade agreement that would lift tariffs on the majority of goods exported and imported between the two countries. Mr. McCain argues that it would open up markets for American manufactured goods and farm products and bolster relations with a crucial U.S. ally that receives about $600 million a year in counterinsurgency and anti-narcotics aid.

But Senator Barack Obama, the Democratic presidential nominee, opposes it, as do many Democrats, because of American workers’ fears about job losses overseas and American labor’s concern over the killings of union leaders in Colombia. Approval of the trade deal is currently held up Democrats in Congress.

Mr. Karzai is almost certain to discuss with Ms. Palin the deteriorating security situation in Afghanistan and the resurgence of the Taliban and al Qaeda in the border area with Pakistan. For much of this year, Mr. McCain said that no additional U.S. forces were needed in Afghanistan, but in July he changed course and advocated the deployment of an additional three brigades, or about 15,000 troops.

Ms. Palin, who is expected to echo Mr. McCain’s foreign policy positions, is being prepared for her meetings by Randy Scheunemann, Mr. McCain’s top foreign policy aide, and by other advisers.
the people about carpet bombing Mrs. Palin, sing its song and you will endear yourself even more to your constituency.”

—Memorial may list list November 1st, 1955 as the beginning of the “Vietnam War” but the American military presence began when a Democratic president was in office. Harry Truman…the man who also authorized dropping 2 atomic bombs on Japan killing about 220,000 Japanese civilians.

To be fair, it doesn’t matter if these wars are started by Democrats or Republicans. The important thing is that they are started by the United States government.

As a union member in the United States the union leaders should FORGET about Colombia's unions and their leaders and should start focusing on we union members here in the US. The great labor leaders of the United States died too many years ago and today's union leaders make six figure salaries and are more interested in black tie parties with DEMOCRAT politicans then they are concerned about we who pay their salaries with our dues!

Yur absolutely right Greg. Kissinger is one of the biggest scumbags out there. But yes, it cannot be denied. He is very knowledgable on foreign affairs. That is why is a big wig in the CFR (council on foreign relations) and a Bildenberger. So we have one CFR-Bildenberger advising Obama (Brzinkski) and another advising McCain, (Kissinger). And theze guys are on the same globalist team. so what does that tellyou, duhhhhh? It tells me, write in Ron Paul for president. At least make a statement if we can no longer control our own politcal process...........

Must be a great meeting for Uribe. Kissinger surely knows who to turn a democracy into a dictatorship.

Uribe should be meeting with the Democrats in Congress. They alone will determine whether the FTA gets passed and it will NOT get passed over their heads this year before a new Prez is elected. Uribe is really wasting his time with Palin as far as getting the FTA passed. What's she going to do? Its in the hands of Congress and presently they say NO-GO!

Kissinger's involvement in Chile:

Both Mr Kissinger and his boss, the then-president Richard Nixon, were heavily involved in backing anti-Allende factions in Chile, the indictment alleges.

The general was a key player in Chile at the time as he had provided crucial backing to Mr Allende after his narrow presidential election victory on 4 September 1970.

In an apparent attempt to remove Mr Allende's military support, coup plotters attempted to kidnap General Schneider, but shot him when he reached for his gun in self-defence.

He died two days after the attempt on 24 October 1970 in Santiago's Military Hospital.

'No connection'

Mr Kissinger, President Nixon's national security adviser at the time, and later secretary of state for both Mr Nixon and his successor, Gerald Ford, has always denied his involvement.

Mr Kissinger served under the late former president Nixon

In 1975, a US Senate investigation established that America had indeed backed a coup which eventually brought down Mr Allende three years later, and set up the dictatorship of General Augusto Pinochet.

However, Mr Kissinger testified before the Senate hearing that he cut off all support for the coup plotters the week before General Schneider was murdered.

A high-ranking State Department official referred to previously declassified documents about the situation in Chile during the 1960s and '70s, saying "the documents speak for themselves".

Yeah, they chased him, cornered him and then set the Bolivian goon squad on him to finish the job. And Douglas, in the event u cant get the DVD to play, just google Bildenbergers, Trilateral Comission, CFR. Its allthere, volumes of information. History of the Federal Reserve Bank. What a scam that was and is. I think it was the good Baron Rothchild who once said, " I care not who makes a countries laws, as long as I issue the currency" Something to that effect anyway. Let me know what u think after reading a bit..........and then theres always prisonplanet.com or conspiracyplanet.com. There are actually some highly educated prepared people writing on those alternative news websites. But u do have to sort thru the weeds........

you heard they cut off che's hand and sent it to castro as proof of death and castro commented that that was hardly proof of death. then they sent castro his head.

che's remains were finally reunited in the last maybe 6-8 years and interred in cuba.

No, didnt know that part. Is that for real? Sounds like american special forces were in fact doing the bidding of Castro. I knew Fidel and Che had had a philosophical parting of the ways but to THAT extent?

dwmte7 says on Sep 25, 2008, 12:09:

i don't know about any rift between the two, but the re-uniting of his parts was on the news some years ago at the bidding of the family and the cuban govt. basically for closure and respect for the dead.

the part about sending the parts to castro, i knew years ago. it was just interesting i heard the story about getting all of him back to gether on the news some years ago.
