Paisas in Movie theatres

Ok what is the point of going to a movie if you are planning on talking through the whole thing and then make your own sound effects through the whole the thing as well? In the states there is a stereo type against Black Women in movie theatres that they are loud and annoying but they got nothing on Paisas... Nothing! I was yelling ¡cállate! through the whole movie I told a girl next to me that i didn't pay do hear her talk with her mother (who was sitting right next to her) she ignored me and actually had a 5 minute conversation on her cell phone after that, then i had to move with my friend to the front of the theatre... I love Paisas I feel even though my family is from Cali, i feel closer to Paisas but i will never go to a Movie on a weekend night en Medellin..

It sound like you better head back to America or where ever you are from. The Paisa should have kicked your ass!

njtea5 it's ok, you just were unlucky that day, oh that impertinent lady... and I agree with you: you go to the movies to watch a movie not to hear a conversation between a mother and her daughter...

I have experienced this in Barranquilla while on a date. The girls seem to make it a point to talk and interrupt the movie with conversation. I dont know why they do that.

This thread just gave me another opportunity to use the "ignore" button feature. It really "kicks ass"

I've come across several posts on other sites commenting on the "type" of poster on PBH and RussianFred comments to another posters situation pretty much validates what they are talking about.

njt5,
Don't worry. Shit like this happens almost in every theatre after a certain time. That's why I never go to the movies at night. In fact, I just walked in the door from seeing 3:10 to Yuma,, another great western.

Maybe the Paisas will kicksome Russian ass :)

I've gone to the movies several times in Mexico and everyone behaved themselves. Of course the theaters were in upscale areas.

I've seen that happen in Cali as well as in the states. I think it's more of a teenager thing than a regional one. Like Medellin Traveler, if there's a movie i really want to see, i go in the day time during the week.

I don't really think its just a Medellin thing, I had the worst time watching Transformers when I was in New York City... talk about special effects and yelling. One thing I don't like about watching movies in Medellin is picking where you sit and not sitting where ever the f&ck you feel like! =)

My experience in Bucaramanga was about the same as back in the states in regards to the talking during the movie. But actually here, when someone answered their cellphone during the movie, most everyone else in the theatre yelled at the person, instead of just mumble like in the US. Funny and very Colombian I thought.

We get that in Bogotá as well, it pisses me off beyond belief! Almost at every film we go to there is an idiot that has to talk, and they don't even bother whispering! Argh! I prolly won't go to the cinema in Medellin if that is the case.

I had no problem at the cinema in Medellin. The theaters in Poblado are the best.

Never had the experience in Colombia but expect those issues are the same everywhere. I went to a movie in West Philadelphia. How about a mom brings in a f****** baby that just crys through the whole show. Happened last year and the lady sat there without even thinking about leaving. If it weren't for the fact that I was probably the only white guy in the theatre in a neighborhood that people don't generally like my complextion I would said something. Instead I left that to the locals. Then there was the movie I went to two years ago in Fort Lee NJ with my wife in which a gang of teenage kids basically beat up a 25 year old guy for telling them to be quiet. Then manager came in with secrity and there were so many of them security ran out nd returned with the Fort Lee police twenty minutes later arresting about 10 kids, So nahh pretty much everywhere.

Worst movie experience for me, was at the Cutler Ridge movie theater, south Miami. I walked out after 15 minutes. The Kendall theaters weren't much better. The theater at Sunset Place in Coconut Grove was fine, but maybe due to the .25 million watt sound system drowning out the riff-raff.

BEWARE of gold diggers.

I guess Cutler Ridge is no longer called "Cutler Ridge". I heard they came up with a new name for that shit-hole area. But people that are familiar with Miami know what I am talking about.
