I wish I were there Sprig it would save me the $50 USD that I have to shell out up here. Does HBO South America generally get the fights? There was a good fight on last time I was down and I didn't even bother to see if I could watch. I just assumed no. Man I wish I were down there to watch it with you. By the way Coffee beaner Oscar has a good chance. The 10% weigh ins were last week. Meaning one month before the fight they can only weigh 10% above the weight. Oscar was 162lbs and Floyd was 153 lbs. Oscar is naturaly bigger. Speed is in Floyd's favor marginally but I think Oscar takes him out. However it would be an upset as Oscar hasn't looked good (ex-Mayoraga) in three years.

monpirri.... it it RELATED TO COLOMBIA BECAUSE: There use to be a young colombiana who posted here long ago, who's esposo was obssessive compulsive about boxing. While she was wasting away in a drought OF (lack of) love and affection.

NOW, ISN'T THAT ENOUGH!!

Where do we go from here?

usually we do NOT get the fights down here except for De la Hoya. HBO Plus used to show all the HBO BAD and HBO WCB fights but for some reason they dont show them anymore. More and more events are available via webcast and that's how i've been showing a lot of events but HBO hasn't gotten on board with webcasts yet.

Come early and watch the Kentucky Derby!

We get WWE and TNA wrestling PPV webcasts and weekly syndication shows via the internet. We get every NHL and NBA playoffs via the internet as well. We can get almost anything from AFL Arena football to ULEB Basketball.

Hey Don Gringo What do you think an Autographed Boxing Glove by Roberto Duran (manos de Piedra)is worth? I went to a New Years Eve Party in 1996 where he was awarded "Fighter of the Century" Award and he autographed a Glove I brought with me! Funny, his Nephew, who was fighting at a Boxing(real) Match at the Party, He took off his suit coat and took off after a bunch of Cuban Boxers who were present and who started to Rib his nephew who was in the Ring fighting. He also wanted to punch out the Cuban's Boxer Manager ! They had to bring in 10 security guards to qwell the disturbance and Cool Roberto off! The Cubans took off fast when Roberto went after them! That alone was worth the $100 price of the Ticket that night! LOL. Also as I like Boxing and attend the Fights at the Mickosaukkee Indian Gaming Reserve in West Miami-Tickets are reasonable at General addmission seats $15-$20 and not a bad seat in the house. Usually 4-6 fights on the Ticket and the Beers and Giant Hot Dogs are dropped to $1 during the Fight! At Times, you will see Big Time Fight Promoters and Boxers present like Don King, Lou Duva, Roberto Duran, Pazienza, Sean O'Grady. You never who may show up! Pro Boxing has went downhill since they dropped the 15 Round Title fights(Ali, Foreman, Frazier,Norton, Duran) and with the likes of Mike Tyson,,,Sad
Roberto Duran with a "few" extra pounds-still fought over 5 Decades,,,

Miamimike did you get a picture with him? I ask only because you need to authenicate the signature. If you can place yourself with him and the signature looks good then an autheticator will charge maybe $100 for the seal. Otherwise the glove probably is only worth the sentimental value you have. I would guess that if authenticated without a display it is probably only worth $250 but I am no expert on Duran Memorabilia. I have a ton of Ali stuff that is worth a nice penny. Trunks, gloves, photos, tickets all signed and authenticated when he was charging $100 a pop. Now they are worth $1,000 to $2,000 each. I would get the seal frame it up and hold onto it. What would make it even more valuable is if you could get Sugar Ray Leonard to sign it. That makes stuff really valuable as it is unique. I have the Ali/Frazier Madison Square Garden photo signed by Frasier, Ali and the ref with a ticket. I was offered $5,000 for that recently and I only paid $250 for it 10 years ago.

DG, thanks for that detailed explanation. I just think that any profession in which you're considered over the hill by age 30 is ridiculous.

To tell you guys the truth, I find boxing a bit boring, I enjoy wrestling more, it has more action. The only boxing I really enjoy is in the Rocky movies, it's more exciting than any real fight I've seen, but the down side is I already know who's gonna win beforehand.

DG BTW don't count out Oscar I know it will be a big upset but a good jab will neutralize speed. Remember Vernon Forrest Shane Mosley as a prime example. Oscar has good speed still and a good jab. He has more power and I believe he is hungrier. Floyd thinks he has this in the bag and has never faced adversity. Oscar has experience intelligence and still has speed. He is bigger and hungrier. Believe me I am an admirer of Floyd and he is great but this is by no stretch a long shot. Too much hype around Floyd and the belief he is invincible. They thought the same of Roy Jones. Everyone said Roy got old. Roy didn't get old he simply was never tested and when he was tested finally we found out he had no chin. Let's see what happens when Floyd eats a strong left hook he didn't see coming.

Brians says on Apr 12, 2007, 11:22:

Also DG they are fighting at the same weight as Miranda (my new favorite Colombian fighter)fights. He has no speed just a good chin and POWER!!! I am very close friends with ex-IBF Middleweight champ Rob Hines and he never had speed. Only a great jab. Once you move to Junior middle weight speed is less of a factor. It is always a factor but power starts to weight in. BTW if you get Ring Magazine (which I know you don't in Colombia) They highlight the greatest Junior Middleweight fights this month for the Floyd/Oscar fight. Anyway my friend Rob's fight is number 5 and they have a giant picture of him hitting Mattt Hilton. Anyway I have that photo with his trunks from the fight all signed and sitting in my office. I used to say they were worth the price of the frame until this month.

Brians I have Pictures... with Duran and I putting a Joking Fist to each other's Jaw(a joke would be all that ever would be--LOL) but not an actual picture of him autographing the Glove so I surmise its not worth much if anything at all. I also have a George Foreman T Shirt(never used) and Program both imprinted with the wording "Road To Tyson" I bought these at a Match Foreman fought at in Orlando in 1988.

DG-you are right on that one, Pro Boxing went down the Tubes when it went Pay per View,,,

Miami that is perfect just take it to an memorabilia authenticator. If he sees that as well as the signature looking legit then he would charge you like $100 for his seal. Then it is tradable. Shit DG how could you not want to watch this fight. These two are legends and believe me they hate each other. Floyds pop trained Oscar and told Oscar he wouldn't train him against his father. Oscar said OK I'll just use Freddy Roach then the next day father and son are back together. This after he was fired by Floyd jr. 6 years ago. Oscar is steamed. Oscar has been dieting and focused. Floyd is eating away as he doesn't need to worry about weight. He said so. He has no plan. He said so. He thinks he will knock him out. This is going to be great. I have been waiting a long time for this fight and it is actually the first time I will ever root for Oscar. I respect him but he is not my type of fighter. I am a Philly guy. I like guys standing toe to toe. Bascially dumb fighters liek me;)
