I am going to Cali for a week on 12-19 October, and might want to visit the Orphange Home in Cali.
The website seems out of date, but does anyone know anything about the orphange. How many girls are there, their age?
What does 'adoption a child' means? Take her home from Cali or sponsor her while living there???
I am in the fashion business, so I do not have problems ordering clothing from China for them, but I need some information before considering making big 'help' to them

NataliaV says on Sep 24, 2009, 12:29: I believe there is an all girls orphanage in Yumbo not too far from Cali. Many PBHers have worked and donated with this place. Some others may be able to provide you with details...if I find the link I will post it.

Gator says on Sep 24, 2009, 13:01: We have and continue to support this place-not really in Cali proper but in Yumbo, calle 7, en la carrtera vieja a Yumbo (Cali) Km.5. . All girls, now about 80, are from six to sixteen years old. The administrator, Sister Julia(Capuchin Tertiary Sisters of the Holy Family in Colombia) is a wonderful person and every dime goes into operations with no fancy overhead. Totally legitimate, It is my wife's pet project but she breaks down in tears when we visit and then leave. You can't adopt but the sisters will direct you to a reputable agency. Also a project of the Rotary Club in Yumbo and Pembroke Pines (Hollywood) Florida - "Bene, cum Latine nescias, nolo manus meas in te maculare" . 0 funny, 1 helpful. |

CakeDesigner-wannabe says on Sep 24, 2009, 13:14: Gator......Thanks for your helpful. I do not want to contribute 'big' money, but might consider sending clothing instead. At least I could do is to visit there and contribute small money for 'thank you for my visit'.
