A total dream of mine given that the early cultures of the Caribbean (where I hail from) were from the Orinoco region and I have always wanted to explore the area, right through and up to LLanos in Venezuela as well. If you could tell me who you organized this trip with, I would be too grateful. Can keep info until I can be back in Colombia again yayayay!

Pimpinero says on Jan 16, 2009, 08:21: Some details: The trip is mostly by boat: up the Orinoco - we will hike along on the shore while the boat goes through the rapids and some of its tributaries: Tomo, Mesetas, Tuparro. I am planning three days at Tuparro National Park which will include some hiking, also one overland drive by truck to connect between the headwaters of two rivers and experience the Llanos from that perspective. We will camp mostly on the beaches along the various rivers (quite safe). This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in wildlife/photography, birding (it really is a birder’s paradise) or just nature (the trip is not very physically demanding other than what involves in being away from civilization). I’m organizing everything myself (boat charters, guides, truck, food etc.).
