Order cancelled with Newegg.com - Reason: All orders must be placed while in the U.S.

Can't purchase anything from New Egg while in Colombia. Are there any other companies with this policy?

---Thank you for holding. At this time we do not accept international purchases. After checking your account I found your order was not placed within the U.S. To avoid any possible fraudulent activities, we have cancelled your order. I apologize for the inconvenience.

I wonder if that is something new. In more than 3 years in Panamá I have never had that problem here, or in Puerto Rico.

I ordered an item from Newegg online, in June. It was shipped to my Florida address (Aerocasillas). My AmEx is registered to the same address, and I have a Skype-In telephone number, with a 717 Pennsylvania area code.

The piece was delivered to my apartment in less than two weeks.

Azunoman, a little off-topic, but I found a Rosewill webcam on Newegg for 19.99. It has functioned really well. I can even see things very clearly in the background. I went to look for another recently and it was selling for 29.99. It lists as True 1.3 M Effective Pixels, 1280 x 1024, 30/15 fps.

Were you trying to order and ship to Colombia, or to an address in the US?

Assuming the second case I'm guessing they flagged your IP address. I recently downloaded something called "HotSpot" which supposedly gives you a US IP address. (I'm sure those with much more knowledge on this will contribute.) I want it so I can watch stuff online that is restricted to the US but this type of thing would work anytime you don't want somebody to know where you are.

I was ordering online from Colombia and shipping to my address in California. They flagged the IP and send me an e-mail 2 weeks later saying they had cancelled the order. I got online today and chatted with them about the issue. I told them I was only on vacation and wanted to buy it. They said you must be in the US to order online. I have hotspot shield installed but didn't think to use it. And it's too late anyways. Next time I'll just avoid New Egg. I have made some orderes recently with Amazon, Lands End, Chadwicks, dell.com and Teva footwear. All of these orders were placed while in Colombia and didn't have any problems.

Papi - Thanks for the offer but I'm going next month to pick the things up. We going to bring them back via Holland America to Cartagena. They will allow you 200lbs per passenger. It takes 11 days from San Diego :)

Sorry to hear that but New Egg is the best online retailer in the US, and I have used them for years without any issue.

The problem is they are a well known company and just have measures in place to protect themselves.

Amazon just drop ships and does not have to absorb any loss, but the suppliers do. Dell has warehouses here so they have loss built into margins.

Again, I had no problems with an inexpensive online order, from Panamá, at Newegg in June.

I also ordered my 3rd Dell last October, and a cheap XP desktop, a few weeks ago. They did get a bit skittish when I admitted that the laptop would be exported to Panamá (from my Aerocasillos address in Florida), and the agent said they might need more info, but that was a false alarm. The laptop was ordered on the phone and the desktop online. Both were shipped, with no problems (as well as the 2nd desktop machine to Puerto Rico).

I used to qualify for a Dell employee/business partner discount, but I doubt that made any difference because that account seemed to have been closed.

I'm not surprised at the OP's cancelled order. For the same reason(transparency, IT security) Paypal has not entered the Colombian market with full privedges for its members. What is really surprising that neighboring Venezuela has more Paypal capabilities then Colombia. Its not like Venezuela doesn't have its share of Con-Artists,,,Mexico(for its bad news) is equal to Canada as far as its paypal Capabilities,,,

Get a copy of Vidalia. It´s a package of privoxy and tor button to allow you to route your packets thru TOR by just clicking a button on the bottom of your browser. You pay a price in packet latency, and I bet NSA runs exit nodes, but it gives me piece of mind. after your initial connection click on the map in setup to find a stateside exit node, edit config file to use that node and you`re good to go at no cost.

Fred911 has this right,
Vidalia is a cross-platform controller GUI for the Tor software, built using the Qt framework. Vidalia runs on most platforms supported by Qt 4.3 or later, including Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux or other Unix variants using the X11 window system.

I was able to make an order with New Egg today. I used Hotspot Sheild from anchorfree.com It works well if you remember to connect to the VPN before you open any websites.
