Yes it uses a broad band connection. We Hooked up a linskys device to our router. A phone cable connects a phone to the linsky device and we make calls to Colombia. it really is a great service. Family in Colombia have a hard time believing that they are calling new york with a medellin number. But its great for us and gret for them.

That seems pretty useful. I had looked at it earlier. Unfortunately, the family members we call most often are not in any of those major cities that this service covers. My relatives in Bogota and Medellin already have voip so we don't need it with them. I use Orbitel's Virtual PIN service and have been very pleased. They are very reasonably priced with good call quality and they never scam you out of minutes or charge hidden fees.

Their virtual pin service is also nice. They only charge $.02 a minute to land lines in major cities on evenings and weekends and a tiny bit more during weekdays. They also charge $.05 to mobiles on evenings and weekends and $.10 during weekdays.

They are not the cheapest, but they only bill by the minute and have absolutely no additional taxes or charges. Their call quality is very good.

I've been using the service for almost a year, It works great. I've been meaning to try the call forwarding feature through the web interface, but have not had a chance to take a look at it. If anybody has used it before, let me know. I would like to forward the incoming calls to my cellphone.

One of these days, I'm going to try to set up a mini asterisk pbx using my orbitel account. that way I can route calls from my cellphone though the mini pbx to colombia
