I will soon be purchasing my ticket to Barranquilla to stay for at minimum of a year. Where can I find an open ticket that will allow me to book my flight home to the US at such a late return date. Should I plan on taking a trip back during the year, which I would like to do, and just have two tickets? Or, should I only get one ticket that will allow me to set a date of returning next summer- 2006? Can someone tell me how they have done this in this type of situation? Can I also purchase a ticket and change the date? I don't want to pay more than $50 for change of ticket fees and I read on the ABS travel website that there would be a $200 fee for change of itinerary. OUCH! So, what's the best way of going about this?

Look for a "Full-Fare Ticket", usually a few hundred dollars more then a el cheapo ticket. Can't have your cake and eat it to these days. What you are attemting to accomplish cheaply is a high-wire act. Maybe buy a one way ticket or a complete ticket(someone doesn't want) on one of the auction sites such as Skyauction.com--Good Luck Avatar Legend: Bush "If any of you Reporters are wondering, it was a Size 10" 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Would it be easier for me to just buy two tickets at a cheap price (one now and return to visit family) and one when I return from vacation until when I return home? I'm thinking it may end up being the same price to buy two cheap tickets than to buy an expensive open ticket. Am I able to come and go freely on a work visa? I'm assuming so. If I have a work visa for a year that doesn't mean that I won't be able to come and go within that year does it?

I have always bought RT cheapo tickets realizing I have no options and if I change it is going to cost. Or spring for a $$$$ open ticket.Or buy an unused portion of someone's ticket ticket they are selling on an auction. I mean I would make the first ticket to return in maybe Novemember, buy another one close to the date in November to return back to Colombia and come back to the US again for my final return. This way I get to make one visit in my year stay back to see my family. I do have a visa, a year work visa. Does anyone know if that restricts me at all? I will definitely look into Avianca's no restrictions ticket.
