Come on, Podboski, that's not right. You're just going to get Morphus all excited.

Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult.

I was expecting a morphus comment UC!
I still don't even know how to use my digital cam properly, but sometimes I get lucky. I do know good lighting when I see it though. The peace sign makes me laugh as it is sooo universal among kids.

Anyway I don't have to learn to use my camera now, as it was stolen from me last night in Buenos Aires while I was hailing a cab on my way to the airport, hands full of keys, sunglasses, tickets, total tourist, I was asking for it.

Two young punks on a moto zipped by me, within 2 inches and lifted the camera from my grasp so expertly my first reaction was, ' wow, they are really good at that'.

Oh well, it was 5 years old, time for a new one with a BIG screen to be able to see better what the photo will be like. A very important feature I have found.

thanks Mario I used that sight before, very useful. It was recommended to me by a friend who is a pro photographer.

Is that Fuji a good choice? I'll be honest, I have to buy something fast and don't know if I can research it properly.

Mario, will that camera be hard to find? I will only have maybe 2 shopping days in houston, can I just go to Best Buy and pick one up do you think? I checked their website and didn't see it.

Thanks for the help!

thanks Mario I did google it and was contemplating an online purchase, but am worried if it doesn't arrive as promised I'm screwed as I will be out of the country again.

But circuit city had it for $599 I think, maybe a bit less, and you can order it online but pick it up at the store. That seems like a good idea to me, but I'll be paying a bit more than I have to, oh well, story of my life!

Anyway, the reviews are all great, so I think I'll spring for it, thanks for the recommendation. I'll check the store you mentioned too.

It amazes me it is less than the price I paid for my 4 mp camera 4 or 5 years ago!

AA batteries are bulky but they do have the advantage of being available EVERYWHERE, and that has saved my bacon more than once when my rechargables ran out.

They are worth the extra bulk IMHO.

Still going to work on an online purchase...I might take a chance!

Nice Photo Pod Other than the hot spot on the nose of one of the girls, and that piece sign in the background, you shot a nice portrait. The problem with many "picture takers" is that they don't fill the frame with the subject. They have a little group in the middle frame surrounded by trees. You did a nice job at that respect.

thanks for the compliments but I think the photo of the boys was much better. I do really like the look of the girl closest to the peace sign, she seems very confident don't you think?

I'll definitely post some pics, I have 2 more weeks in colombia in january. Not sure the photos I will take will be allowed here though! lol Just kidding. (I'll email you those ones)

You guys might have to help me with the techy requirements regarding posting, I never even read my last camera manual. I like to learn by doing, and I know that isn't the best way, but I hate reading tech stuff.

BTW, either of you familiar with freeman patterson (well known canadian photographer)? I found his books on photography to be amazingly good for an amateur. Even I understood them.

His stuff would be too basic for you two, but if anyone else is reading this, I highly recommend 'Photography and the art of seeing' and the rest of that series.
