I'm not too sure, ive spoken to a couple of people and they seem to think that even foreign nationals can use the national health service free too. Im going to call my doctor back home Monday to see if he can shed any light on it. Cheers

I have insurance in Colombia through Salud Coop. I just spent a week in the hospital and I was impressed with the quality of care. They payed 90% of everything a week, with a private room, surgery and drugs cost me $50. My insurance costs $25 a month for me my wife and her daughter.

No problem is so formidable that you can't walk away from it.

My Colombian novia was in UK this year for 6 months on a tourist visa. We went to our local GP to register her and they gave out some bullsht about needing >6mnths visa to get free healthcare, I think this was a fob off since was a psh practice in Fulham and didn't want more patients. So we just tried another surgery & she was signed up no problem. She got all benefits of free NHS, cheap prescriptions, contraceptive pills, etc...good luck & hope you get a friendly receptionist!
