Okay.. I read a couple posts in regards to INSURANCE.. WHAT IS YOUR EXPERIENCE.. O THINK OF THIS...

I recently changed jobs... and lost my insurance.. meanwhile in this time. I need or would like to have a surgery of.. a cyst-(ie fatty growth) operated on.. which is in my back.. which will done outpatient via a surgeon... anethesiologist.. approximate cost in usa.. ABOUT 8-12K... what do you think would be the cost.. in COLOMBIA.. SAY..CASH.. NO INSURANCE.. AND the RISKS THERE COMPARED TO THE USA.... SAY MEDELLIN??? I have lived in bogota and been in medellin .. I dont really have fears of the doctors o medical system there.. JUST HAVE NEVER WENT O BEEN INVOLVED in any costs there.. I have just read a couple of posts.. which amazed me to the costs to clinic and emergency room care.. being soo cheap.. WHAT ARE YOU THOUGHTS.. IF Possible.. I could get this done after the holidays and enjoy beautiful medellin and wonderful paisa food again.. thanks...

I would think well under $2000. Get Opinions and Prices from at least 3 different large clinics/hospitals for a basis of comparison.

Thanks guys for the comment.... not sure what to do.. If it runs. half.. that would be between 4-6k... even if it costs 2k.. that would be about what I would end up paying.. if I waited until I get back on a group work plan.. about 2k out of pocket.. with our "Great" Insurance plans here these days in the states..THANKS FOR THE INFO.. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL.....

I said I think well under $2K but plan on incidental related expenses such as Lodging, Meals Taxis, ect to bring the total around $2K. A Colombian Friend of mine had a Herniopathy(hernia repair) in Manizales last year, his home town, and that Operation ran around $500 Total. It did not include Airfare, meals ect.
