Obtain Packet 4 week of, or in advance?

My question is basically do we need Packet 4 in advance.

Assuming we never receive Packet 4 in Cali (thanks for sending it normal mail)...

We have no contacts in BOG, nor can we travel there except for the interview "week". We have a Wed interview. If we will cram everything into Tue (Lab at 6a for 7a open... bank at 8a for 8:30 open... doctor exam before lunch, return for results at 6p), can we just pick up the formal Packet 4 on Monday to then do everything Tuesday and interview Wednesday (then obtain visa Thursday and then BOG/MIA Friday)?

Thanks!!

you need packet 4 the most important item in the Packet 4 is the appointment letter. EVERYONE you see before the interview (Dr, lab, bank, lady at the embassy gate, etc.) will want to see your appointment letter before they do anything.

No appointment letter. No go.

Other than that, it has the name and phone number of the lab and the doctors to make your appointments, but you can get those from others.

Depending on how much time you have before the interview, AND if you've already made the necessary reservations, I suppose you could pick it up a day or two early, but have a contingency plan for if the Embassy has some sort of problem and puts you off for a day or two.

If everything goes well, it could work, but that plan puts a lot of trust (hope) in the bureaucracy working in your favor. It could happen, but I'd add an extra day or two of buffer just in case.

ALSO, make sure there are no Colombian holidays before your appointment because they nobody does anything on those days (and they seem to have one every other week).

DO NOT TAKE C4C'S WORDS LIGHTLY.

We thought we could pick up the Doctor's envelope later the same day too, but when we called a few minutes prior to 6, they told us it would not be available that day and we'd have to come get it the following business day. Something like that would cause a real problem with your itinerary, because the doctor doesn't open until 8 or something like that, while you would have to have been clear on the other side of town at the Embassy at 7.
