I was wondering if there are any obesity prevention programs in Barranquilla, specifically for children. And if Uninorte does any research on obesity. I am a personal trainer and will be in Barranquilla for 10 months and was looking to do something with exercise/fitness/nutrition as way to prevent obesity (not even sure if it is a big issue down here like in the states?) Thanks

This may be a bit off track but I think I read in ElTiempo.com that Colombia will now have a law that will make schools have more fruits and vegetables available to fight child obesity. It's not a solution though but at least it's a start.
Now, if they can only convince the parents to stop frying everything at home...

Obesity is about to be declared a public health problem in Colombia. I'm not sure if El Presidente has gotten around to signing the document that will ensure medical treatment for the obese. But more importantly, prevention programs
