As I mentioned in another thread, my wife had no idea what #1 and #2 meant and her daughter laughed when she heard this. She said that was almost the first thing she learned when she started school - #1 and #2. My wife says there is no Colombian or Spanish equivalent. Is she right?
Second question. I was referring to someone as a "dolor en el culo" and it occurred to me that this literal translation of the old English favorite "pain in the ass" probably makes no sense in Spanish. What is the Colombian or Spanish equivalent? My wife says there really isn't one.
So what's up with this? No way to say "pain in the ass" and no way to refer to #1 or #2? WTF?????

goin_south says on Aug 9, 2009, 20:39: well... I've always found that if your colombiana really is trying to understand you, she finds these literal translations funny,.. .but at the same time, understands... and expands her real world.... if expansion is a possibility for her. nothin I say is to be takn for my words, but rather for the words of Sailor Jerry. 1 funny, 1 helpful. |

bufalo says on Aug 9, 2009, 20:40: oops, wait! #2, you can say "tengo la fulca" which is short for "tengo la fulcagado" which means "I got to take a huge dump". When partying it up in SM I always thought it meant I only "had to pee" so I said it everynow and then while out drinking and partying it up. That could be one of the reasons while a girl or two looked at me a bit funny. What girl wants to dance it up with a guy who announces he's going to take a huge dump in a club? utopiacowboy says on Aug 10, 2009, 20:13: I like that "tengo la fulca"! That story was hilarious. Imagine telling a chick in a club that you have to take a huge dump! She must have thought what the hell is up with these dumb ass gringos. bufalo says on Aug 11, 2009, 11:23: Yeah, it was kind of funny, I thought it was common lingo of just having to piss after a few drinks. Nothing like dancing away with a cutie, then walking back to her table and saying "I'll be right back, I just have to take a huge dump." My friends waited awhile to tell me what it really meant. I'm going to have to use this the next time I'm down there. Announce it to the entire table when we're out: "TENGO LA FULCA!" Maybe with a large roll of tp as a prop. Damm, I haven't laughed so hard about anything on PBH in a long time. They played a few tricks on me the first few times I was down there and had no clue what was going on (but I thought I had everything under control).
