Who is David Murcia Guzman, illustrated on th bill, is he a released FARC captor? or soccer player?

All truth goes through three phases. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self evident.

It's not a hundred million pesos, BoBo. It's a hundred thousand peso bill. Will be equal to about $ 100 USD and likely realsed mid-summer

That's not the picture that will be on the new release-it will be Carlos Lleras Restrepo who was president of Colombia 1966/1970

She already has. How about being elected to the Colombian Senate with the highest vote count ? How about being instrumental in fighting the political corription in Colombia when Samper was being procecuted for indictment for having received narco monies for his campaign? Or the process 8000? She certainly accomplished a lot, including the founding of her own political party in the short time she was involved in Colombian politics prior to her kidnapping.

She done a few things but actually accomplished very little. What did she actually accomplish in regards to Process 8000? A few fall guys went down but Samper got off. Her hunger strike accomplished nothing. Her Partido Verde Oxígeno is nothing but a side note at best. Her presidential campaign was a joke. She had almost no support. If she hadn't gotten kidnapped, she would have probably faded into oblivion.

Don't get me wrong, I do admire her for her stand against corruption. She has some good principles and is clearly an intelligent woman. However, she hasn't actually accomplished much and certainly nothing that warrants being memorialized on currency. Maybe a stamp in her honor would be more appropriate.

I'm so hip, I have difficulty seeing over my pelvis.

Colombiano: She is still considered by many as a "symbol". Whether she would be one if she had not beeen kidnapped is another matter (and you're probably right on that one).

- But she DID manage to get elected to the senate
- She did stand out most vociferously on corruption
- She clearly had a good program and her points of views were clearly and intelligently expressed (whether she would have been elected or not is another thing but, at least, we knew what she stood for - and she probably would have stuck to her program)

As an aside:

- IMAO, it's time that women got a little positive discrimination - especially in Colombia
- At the end of the day, she has been superb since she was "liberated" (in what she said or didn't say) and her ordeal has allowed us to appreciate her human qualities

P.S.: Colombia don't really use postal stamps... ;-)

Better to have tried and failed than having regrets all your life about what you MIGHT have missed

Vicshere: Amigo, the image on the $100.000 note will be Carlos Lleras Restrepo, 30th president of Colombia. IMHO, Ingrid Betancourt would be lucky to beat Antanas Mockus, who got in the last election 146,540 votes or 01.2% out of 12,058,788 votes cast. Loved her first campaign in which she distributed condoms, with the motto that she would be like a condom against corruption. Regardless of what some say she has no real popular support. In fact her new party, Partido Verde Oxígeno, faded away for lack of support.

Tomtom33: You are correct on the present value today but since will not be placed into circulation until around July 20, Colombian Independence Day, I tied to extrapolate the value at that time and used the wrong figure. I think it will be a minimum of $2.500/1 so that would be about $40 USD
