Nueva Lengua at Univ. de la Sabana?

Greetings all:

I'm studying Spanish in a university in the US and would like to wrap up my studies with a month or two abroad Summer 2006. I came across a website for Nueva Lengua Escuela de Espñol, which has a few programs in Colombia, includingo ne at Universidad de la Sabana. Does anyone have experience with this program or with this university?

Cheers,
Jeremy

as far as the program I dont know, but the university is one of the best of the country with a very beautiful Campus in Chia near Bogota, I think it is a good choice, along with the Universidad de los Andes.

Nueva Lengua I spent several weeks learning Spanish with Nueva Lengua in September/October 2004. I loved every minute. University De La Sabana is in a great location just outside of the city. The teachers were excellent and fun and the syllabus was really interesting, Nueva Lengua create most of their own material. I met a very cosmopolitan group of students whilst I was there, from Holland, Switzerland, Sweden, Canada, USA and a few like myself were from the UK. The course director Pedro Niño regularly organised excursions in and around Bogotá which meant I got to see a lot of places I wouldn’t otherwise have known about. On the down side classes start very early 8:00 am and as it takes a minimum of an hour to get there depending on where you’re staying in Bogotá, you will have to be an early riser. Also the courses are rather more expensive than most however, for me it was worth every penny. I highly recommend it.

Nueva Lengua I am studying with Nueva Lengua in Cartagena at the moment. Really good, they arrange everything for you, accommodation, your curriculum, city tours with some really nice local students, dance classes in the school. It is laid back and relaxed, but you learn a lot and can determine whether you want more grammar or talking.
Cartagena is beautiful and has beaches galore! It is also secure, more so than the big cities.
Buena suerte!

Been trying to decided between a school in isla de marguerita, vene. and nueva lengua in cartagena. I kite surf and am looking for favorable side shore winds 10-20 knots. I'd be studying during the summer months. Have you seen any kitesufing on the beaches there? Also, are you staying with a family or at the university? Lots of english speakers? sorry for all the q's. Just very curious. i'd appreciate any and all info you could send me. thanks! doug

Cartagena Spanish + Scuba Diving Hola!
I'm planning a two-week holiday to Cartagena in September. I am interested in Spanish classes and a scuba-diving course (PADI certificate) with Nueva Lengua school. Is the weather a problem in September (thinking especially at the scuba-diving course..)???
I've just read the comments (all very good) regarding the Spanish classes at Nueva Lengua but has anyone of you any idea how the combined (Spanish+scuba) course is? Any piece of information will be very helpful.
Muchas gracias,
Michaela

I'm doing to Spanish and Volunteering Course this summer for 3-4 weeks in Cartagena.

I'm getting there next Friday, June 10th.

From my conversations over the Internet, my volunteer assignment is working with a youth soccer team not far from Cartegena to the south...I'm hyped.

I probably will be travelling to Cali from the end of June through the 8th or 9th of July.

Short Conversation Course in Bogotá (July 7th, 2005)

I will teach "colombian" spanish to native english speakers staying in Bogotá, in an informal practical course (which of course will cost much less than formal theoretical academy courses).

In small groups we will practice conversation and will learn about colombian slang, frecuently used sentences and words, basic spanish to "survive" in daily conversations (social and business related).

Each course will cover other topics of interest related to: living in Colombia: colombian lifestyle, traveling in Colombia, meeting colombians, learning about Colombia and its culture, security issues, tips to "survive" in the streets (safe and non safe areas), sports, etc.... depending on the particular interest of each group of students.

At the end of the course, students will know the basics to communicate effectively with native spanish speakers in social and business environments, not only in terms of the correct words to use, but the best ways to approach, according to the culture.

Best reagards to all!

Colledge Credit?
I wanted to do something similiar when I went to Bogota for my first son to be born there, but my University looked at the courses (business in spanish) and said they could not transfer the credits (even though it was at the "Javeriana" which is also supposed to be one of the best in Colombia). If you are looking to get credit with your University you should check with them because they may have their own study abroad program and not want to approve one from an outside source.
