Notorized 134???

Sorry if I'm completely out of the loop but what does it mean to notorize something that is already in the language it should be (english in this case) and why does it have to be notorize? I sent my affidavit of support directly from my lawyer to my girlfriend... did I miss something??? I thought that documents that needed to be TRANSLATED should be notorized??? I got a lawyer to organize papers (rip off) but his services ended when the petition was approved, leaving much to be done. I've already downloaded and sent the needed documents for the packet "3", and sent what I got back from uscis (134, aproval notice, birth certificate, ect... but nothing was said about notorizing documents unless they are in a language that is other than english or spanish. Can anyone tell me what the deal is???

Amigo... since you are filing an AFFIDAVIT to must be notarized to be legal and binding on You (and not to mention it is a legal document that makes you responsible for support.) I believe that is the only thing I believe that has to be notarized. Nothing you send has to be translated assuming it is in English.

Just tell you novia to follow exactly the check list and documents she will receive from the embassy before her interview.

Good Luck.

For what it's worth, Gator and Danny are absolutely right.

Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult.

Hey Jmoon didn't you read it? At the back it says in Bold - Oath or Affirmation of Sponsor and then ... ... I swear etc. ... and then ... subscribed and sworn to .... etc.
.... That's where you sign it in front of a notary and the notary puts his/her signature and seal! Just redo it and send it. Not a big deal to redo it - most banks have a notary (mine does it for free.) Also, keep a copy (or 2) of everything you are sending and receiving - you may need it later. I sent one copy of everything to my fiancee for her to have with her at the interview (she didn't need it.) Good luck

I would say no I sent a copy of my divorce certified by the county clerk so my novia could have as support document. But there was no request that it bent sent as such, or translated. Also, my birth certificate never came into play since since I provided copy of my passport with I-129F documentation. My novia did not need it for the embassy interview.

PM me your e-mail address, and I will forward you the packet 3 docs which Silvia T. sent me. By the way Silvia, thanks for that. It truly helped.

I don't think so From my recollection, my novia handled all the packet 4 requirements on that side. Nothing for me to sign. In fact, she was able to turn it into the embassy the next day. Of course, we had anticipated what was required and she had already done much of the necessary legwork already.

Packet 3 says... Packet 3 says you should have everything in that big list of documents BEFORE you send your forms to the embassy (of course, knowing it would be several months before the interview, we ignored that and sent the forms to the embassy early...causing some anxious moments as the interview date drew near....)

Only one of the forms listed in Packet 3 is the I-134 affidavit of support that the petitioner (U.S. Citizen) needs to sign and have notarized. Other than that, the Beneficiary (Colombian) has to provide everything else.

If you have additional proof of relationship (phone logs, e-mail logs, trips to visit since your I-129F was filed, etc.) You should send those as well, just in case your fiance needs them during the interview.

So the packet 3 is... so the packet 3 is pretty much just a form for her to sign and return that she has all the docs ???? thanks

That's about it but you actually send in two forms.

By the way... While YOU do have to fill out and sign I-134, it does not have to go in with packet 3. I got it to my novia in time for her embassy interview.
