I am in the process of getting married in Colombia... I have several questions I would like to know ... If I send all the required paperwork to my girlfriend can she make the date with the Notary or do I have to be there with her? Also has anyone delt with Notries in Barranquille? If so what is the best one to go to? Thanks in advance.....

Gator says on May 17, 2004, 19:12: Anticipate at least.. a week for the paperwork and yes you will have to be there for some of it. Notary work in Colombia is usually done by an attorney and there is no "best" one that I know of. I am fortunate in that my sister-in-law is an attorney and she handle it for me when needed. The embassy furnish you a list of notaries that are reliable and you can pick from that. It might even bee on line.
