Not as frustrating but...

I have been a Direc TV Colombia subscriber for 3 years and probably with 6 decoders for the sports bar, probably I have one of the highest monthly bills of any client. For the NFL & MLB packages I had them switch it on every year with a simple phone call. Nice that now they offer NBA Pass (Not LEAGUE Pass like in the states but a toned down version with 2 games daily) and called to subscribe. I was told I need a letter faxed to them signed by the representante legal since it´s a business account. I told him we never had to do this b4. Well skippy wouldn´t budge. So I dont have a fax and in this day of email and scanners I dont see the reason to spend time and a few mil pesos to do what can be done for free. So I scanned the signed, with sello letter and sent it via email along with a copy of the last 2 bills and last 2 payments done online. I get another call saying it needs to be faxed. I laughed and asked does that fax go to a different office than yours? and he said no, I get them personally. I asked skippy if he had a printer. He did! I said print it out and that should be enough. He finally agreed as I was about to bluff and tell him to cancel my $310.000/mo. account.

Eye roller of the day: Ever notice that Colombians with the phone in hand, take out the yellow pages and proceed to write down the phone number they looked up even when it´s a full-page ad in 72 point font and then they proceed to throw out the slip of paper out after they hang-up? Don't go screwin' with your account...you might lose Football and then I'm gonna have to come seek revenge if I miss my Cowboys! jaja

The "lovemedellin website" is a piece of crap made by some moron who has only been to Medellin once...you'd be better off reading the Lonely Planet advice from a guy who never even came here!

I pay 141'000 pesos a month for Direct TV, HBO( the film channels) seems to swallow up the most part of the money, ok I've got bbc news in english cnn in english, and at weekends loads of sports channels, and I do get to see 4 or 5 english premier league SOCCER games ( I remember when i called them football games ha ha) but is Direct TV value for money or a rip off ?¿

DirecTV ( LA ) Has taken a turn in the road with their programing to begin with . As you well know we got screwed with the NFL. Ticket ( half the games ) and they show 0-9 Miami every Sunday ???? I just might cancel .. I don't even get a response to my e-mails any more ! We the English speaking ( Gringo in general ) are not their market in the least ( in their mind and pockets ) ..

Is it possible to bring a Direct TV receiver (or card) from the states to Colombia and get all the same programming as in the states? How about with Dish Network?? I know this was possible years ago, however I was under the impression they are no using "spot beams"..

Via internet its possible to, with the help of a little box bought in the states to bypass all the redtape here and watch all your favourite stuff from the states and pay for basic sattelite, its a loop hole I think may get shut down soon
