Not a good way to die

As has been mentioned before, people who have the habit of causing problems are taken care of. One of my neighbors who has been that type of person for too long was taken care of. He was picked up, bound and then had tape placed over his mouth and nose and suffocated. Then, they put him in a large bag and dumped him in the counrtyside. After that they called the authorities to advise them where the body was. It's my understanding that there is a list out now of 100 more such people who will be taken of as soon as they are found. Perthaps many of them have left town.

Lowell something like that happened down the road from me on the outskrts of Cali. Guy with tape over his mouth so he couldn´t scream and bullet in the back of his head. None of the locals recognized him, said he was probobly un dañino from somewhere else.

What part of Colombia did your incident happen in?

bufalo says on Feb 17, 2008, 08:35:

This used to happen all the time when I was in Santa Marta years ago, still goes on as one can see.

Lowell: A list of 100 people? to be taken out? If what I read is just that, I think if I saw my name on a list - even if it was erroneous...I would move too, jaja

Scary story, not sure the exact reason behind you posting it? Could you clarify?

Local hit. Guy had very bad rep. Known as a theif, drug runner, seller... Also couldn't go home to Choco and was wanted in Medellin. I live in Cartago. Kind of in the center of Pereira, Manazales and Armenia. I posted the info, so people realize that if they stray to the wrong side here or don't pick their aquaintances well, bad things can happen. The guy leaves behind a very youg baby and wife. Oddly though, Cartago didn't have these fools aroung when the Mafia was in force here. Trust me, I'm not saying the Mafia is a good thing.

Especially when they see that orange bike being backed out of your place, then your neighbors know you are on the prowel and up to no good! I would continue to hack on you but it is 0221am & I need to be up in 4 hours for work, and no I am not that old yet!

Lostgringo says on Feb 18, 2008, 01:31:

It is really hard to get your head around this kind of stuff. For me anyway. I understand it and appreciate the culture and the way they do things in Colombia but sometimes the harshness of it just doesn't sit well with me. I remember having a drink in a bar and one guy telling a guy was murdered in the the pool across the street just two days ago. A guy on a motor cycle pulls up walks into the bar/pool hall and shoots the guy in the head. He then turns around walks out of the bar and on to his motor cycle. End of story. The police come and drag the body out and throw it in the back of truck. They wash up the floor and it is business as usual. This bar is the hang out for the vigilantes in town. I suppose this guy on the motor cycle had permission to wack this guy. All hits go through the wise guys there. Again, it is hard to get your head around this stuff. If you live in Colombia long enough perhaps you will get used to it. It's not to have enemies in Colombia.

Aint no backin out with my bike. I rew that baby up, wife opens the doors and out I go. Same thing on return. Wifie or son will open the door when they hear me coming back. Had a friend in the States who mounted a pistol to the handle bar of his moto, so he could chase and shoot rabits. Glad he never endowed. Maybe I'll do the same and start taking out people crossing the street, old men in the park, little old ladies..... Loco gringo needs his fun!

Alfred E. Newman. "What. Me Worry?"

lampltr says on Feb 18, 2008, 17:43:

Hmm, will have to ask you wife about that one...Believe they would easily open the door for you, but perhaps a triple bolt before you return locking all (hehe). Believe the local ERG will easily add you to their pay roll and will take care of the mounting themselves on your behalf.
Yeah baby!!

Rubito, Lowell and I are jabbing each other, nothing towards you bro! Lowell is in an area where everything and everyone is watched...sooner or later one gets paid a visit that 9 times out of 10 is pretty good unless one is an all out idiot then the circumstances may be a bit different. I will mention to Lowell to direct his comments more clearer.
Hey Lowell, you better have some good associates as you may get another visit (As in the past), this time when you are at home jaja. Remember the east side folks....take care!

Lowell says on Feb 20, 2008, 08:37:

Rubito, please chill. Pat and I poke at each other all the time. My comment wasn't directed to you. I don't understand how you came to that conclusion. I won't respond to the "Retard" statement. Sorry. From now on I'll ID who I'm poking at. Lampltr is right about the area that I live in. It's my draw. I don't walk around with a chip on my shoulder, go to the wrong places, hang with the wrong people..., so I live a peaceful and unhasseled life here. In fact, I've got a bunch of self-appointed watchdogs always looking out for me. Best of all I'm the only pasty white fat gringo around. That is until Lampltr moves his more ugly pasty white fat behind here.

Heck, who needs enemies when I have friends like you guys. I sleep better at night now with that knowledge. Spectical? Yep, when they realize that gringo loco doesn't have much cash. Then they'll probably turn on you guys and give me a split of the takings. Can we all say, setup?

Actually,, the Colombian Justice system is a big plus, especially the "street justice".

Pretty simple Law:
Don't do something that could result in your death or, in the many areas, be asked to leave.

"Violence is the first refuge of the incompetent" - Isaac Asimov

manINred says on Feb 23, 2008, 15:55:

Yeah, a big plus when assasins kill guys on motorcycles only to ruin lives of people around them, as they threaten witnesses and leave them for dead in the crashes they create.

To assume no negative externalities is idiotic. In fact there are many. Too many for street justice to be a good thing.

Rubito, yeah, I agree it's hard to trust the police in Colombia, don't know about many other places. In England they seem alright. In Canada we've had some problems with them.
