News to me, but it looks like it is now in effect-anyone else?

The days of picking up your visa the same day seem to be over.

According to several people on VisaJourney, the embassy is now using Domesa(delivery service) to deliver visas to the beneficiary's home. Apparently, it is also possible to pick up the visa at a certain Domesa office in Bogota. If you need more information, look in the "Colombia Club" thread in the "Foreign Embassies" forum on VisaJourney.com.

You can also give them an address in Bogotá to have the visa delivered there. So if your SO is not from Bogotá but you want to leave together from there, you can ask DOMESA to deliver the visa to your temporary address (or pick it up at their office) and it only takes about 3 business days. Otherwise, you're looking at about 6-8 business days to have the visa delivered to cities outside of Bogotá.

Diana,

How long is the wait if you pick it up at Domesa? I have several places in Bogota to which I can have it delivered, but if it is faster, I would gladly go by the Domesa office. Of course, we haven't even gotten our NOA2 yet.

Canadian Embassy has also been that way for at least a year now, but no additional delivery charge.

Wow, that sucks if true. Say a person from Cali pays to travel to Bogota to go to the inteview. They get an approved visa - they can't then plan on traveling from Bogota to the US without first going back to Cali to pick up the visa? Yikes. That had to have happened fairly recently. Less than a year ago, it was approval, then pick up the visa 2 or 3 days later.

CG,

I don't know if the wait time is shorter if you pick up the visa at the DOMESA office. But even if you have it delivered in Bogotá you're looking at a 2-3 day wait max.

RJ,

The embassy changed the process either in November or December, I can't remember. And yes, it's a hassle for the people who live outside of Bogotá and were planning on leaving straight out of there to the States.
