Awesome. Lots of moving images. At times you want to smash the screen. Thanks for making that and posting it here for us. What tool did you use to import the music and edit the video and sync it all up?

Muvee . It's so easy. just drag and drop from any photo program you have your photos under , drag and drop the song from Itunes and tell it to make the video. Done

eywed says on Feb 5, 2008, 21:25:

The song is perfect if you listen to the words.

I think it's really well done but would improve with less use of the Ken Burns effect. Excellent song choice too.

CatGirl says on Feb 5, 2008, 21:28:

Eywed: Wow! You know your video stuff!! I liked it....Using our 20 questions theme song are we? haha
Yes, let's put the pressure on.

BTW - I heard the song "why cant we all just get along" today and thought it would be great to put as a soundtrack to the march - after seeing that aerial view

Mario I dont know what ken burns effects are but I think I know what your talking about. The Program picks all the effects. I can use another program but it takes for ever to do in that program.

Ay Hombe!!!!!

Mario says on Feb 5, 2008, 21:59:

The Ken Burns effect is what they call the panning and zooming (in or out) of still photography, adapted to video.

Sometimes it's better to mix it up a bit and let a photo frame just jump from one to the next with no effect. This is especially powerful when the span of time per frame/image is almost instantaneous. Think half a second display. When you repeat images, as you've done here, it would be the best way to go on the repetitions, rather than displaying them "Ken Burns" again, do that once and then the second go-round, let them snap over each other. BOPBOPBOPBOPBOP 5 images just displayed long enough for the human eye to register what they were but quick.

I use iMovieHD (because I use a Mac, the only worthwhile computer for graphics besides an SGI box) and I also have Final Cut Pro which goes miles beyond iMovieHD but iMovieHD has some very nice tools and easy editing capabilities. I love that program, really.

Final Cut Pro is capable of producing feature film-type results but it has a pretty steep learning curve.

Don't get me wrong, you've done a hell of a job and I salute the effort entirely. And again, the song choice was absolute perfection.

If you like Queen, check out "Melancholy Blues". Freddie's best ever.

eywed says on Feb 5, 2008, 22:04:

Thanks Mario , Sounds like you know your stuff. The Song just seemed to fit the Cause. The program I use is Muvee and it does not let you change much. Really Really simple but You do not have much say so in the way it edits the Pictures and Video together. Wish I had a nice program but We all know how wishes go. The Videos make great clear DvD's but the picture goes down hill when going over to you tube.

Ay Hombe!!!!!

Mario says on Feb 5, 2008, 22:14:

Yeah, it gets re-interpolated for streaming and that compromises the video quality. I'd want to bitch to YouTube but they provide so much excellent content that I can't. I can search for things like Ian Gillan and find video archive of concerts there so... no way I can complain.

Check Downloads.com for other PC-based software. You'll find freeware, shareware, etc and you may find something worth buying that's more robust than what you're using since you have this knack for video production. Go for it!

Robert Jorge says on Feb 5, 2008, 22:14:

How many people would you estimate were at the march? Also, great job. Thanks for the work and sharing.

One women told my wife it was nice of her to bring her gringo husband to the march, My wife replied No maam it was my husbands Idea to come and he brought me. The look on her face. Colombians all the time Can't believe a gringo goes to their events. When People Find out that I have a Vallenato web site and play the accordion with a Valleanto group their jaws drop.

eywed says on Feb 6, 2008, 12:47:

No matter how the march started it was a great Idea!

Ay Hombe!!!!!

goin_south says on Feb 6, 2008, 15:17:

...and this great idea needs to be repeated.

This is only a First Giant Step.
The people of Colombia are going to have to combine efforts to squash the farc out of existence.
The USA cannot do it for Colombia.
No other country can do it for Colombia.
Colombians are going to have to do this themselves.
I expect more lives will be lost.... if they - the masses - really want to end this conflict.
Who started calling this .. a 'civil war'?
People here, have debated whether or not it is a 'civil war'.
Certainly not. It's the most Un_Civil War.
The good people - the masses - of Colombia deserve a country free of this on-going strife.
Half the colombian people you or I know, have been directly or indirectly but closely.. affected by this conflict.
____

I saw and heard some 'thunder of determined voices' in those videos of the marches in Colombia
It reminded me of some marches of protest in the USA in the 60's and 70's.... but, without the violence. That was good.
But, as so many people here have said in the past...if you leave it to farc, it will never end.
Forever, there is this stalemate. Between the gov and the farc.
________

I have taunted Rubito time and again, for his signature, 'Violence is the Price of Freedom'.
But, I see his point, finally in regards to Colombia.
Some of us are idealists.
Some... are realists.
It appears to me, THE PEOPLE of Colombia will have to resolve to end the conflict.
If they leave it to the Government.. and the Farc.. IT MAY NEVER HAPPEN.
More lives will be lost.
More lives will be lost.
Colombian people, I think, need to keep taking this message to the street
Then.. they are going to have to take it to the Jungle.
The prisoners of Farc will likely remain prisoners of the Farc.. until they die.
How long do you wait?
______

Colombians have to do this for themselves.. for their country.
I think it will be up to the people to end the conflict.
They should do it.
Their children, and their children's children deserve to live in peace.
Take this message again and again to the streets.
And, then take it to the Jungle.
Take it to the Mountain Tops.

GO GET THOSE BASTARDS.
It's up to the people.

y, un mil gracias.

Going South -I agree it will have to be the Colombian People who end this but it will have to be with the worlds support. I would like to think that it can be done.
Monpirri - Thanks I enjoyed sharing some of what happened in my town.
