Hi everyone,
Im back! Well not yet Im in N.Z about to come back to Colombia via Miami and will be there shortly. The question I have is...My partners father said that DAS has recently stated that as of the end of this month no person holding a foriegn passport is allowed access to Colombia unless they have an "electronic" passport.
Has anyone else read this anywhere? When they say "electronic" do they mean the ones that have electronic chips or the ones that are readable by a machine? I will check the DAS web site, but my spanish still sux. So im hoping someone here knows something. Ive checked the australian sites and theres nothing. thanks

mrgizmo says on Jun 2, 2005, 08:06: electronic means... that the passport has a bar code and the bar code is read by a scanner. They're able to verify the visible information with the scanned information (That's only my opinion) Behind every successful man, there's a nagging woman 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

kiwi says on Jun 2, 2005, 19:34: don't worry electronic or machine readable passports are simply the new style of passport, unless your passport is about 10 years old it will be fine. yours will be fine cause you've already been to the states haven't you? as of october last year no visitor to the USA was permitted unless they had a machine readable passport. like mrgizmo728 says it has a bar code down the side of the page your photo is on, this is read by a scanner at immigration. it will look something like this:
