Don't worry this is not a scare mongering thread. Just interested to know if anyone else has suffered this. When I met my husband (Colombian) he used to suffer from nightmares where he would wake up with a jolt or grind his teeth and moan. After we got married (6 years ago)he stopped all this but he is going to Colombia in 10 days time and about a week ago the nightmares started again. I just feel so sad that going to your own country can inspire such worry and fear.I think that once you move away from a violent environment it is very difficult to go back to it.Everything changes. You learn to relax and go about your business with confidence. I hope for his sake he has a brilliant time and his nightmares don't reflect the reality (I should perhaps add that he was once attacked with a knife ( and has a big scar on his head) by someone who had meant to attack his brother. Suppose this doesn't help things but I'm sure lots of people have seen things which would give them nightmares.

Robert Jorge says on Nov 21, 2006, 18:00: If you don't mind sharing, where is your husband from (area, city)? Does he talk about anything that is bothering him with you? --"I believe in making the world safe for our children. goin_south says on Nov 22, 2006, 00:59: If he is going near Cali, then maybe the nightmares are substantiated; just a few minmutes ago, a was on line, in msn, with an amigo, from Orange County, and it is not his first trip to Cali, but.... his girlfriend says it (CALI!!!) is or is soon going to be under MARtiaL LAW. (How do they know wtf Martial Law means in Cali?) 'what does it mean, when one of you (colombians) tell another: YOU WERE NOT/ARE NOT. 'COLOMBIAN ENOUGH'?? jejeje..a mixture, I think, of stupidity mixed with a false sense of arrogance.. How 'colombian' do you have to be? to be 'colombian enough 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

I suppose that is another thread: HUNTING IN COLOMBIA. Come to think of it, I can't remember ever reading anything on here about hunting... other than por las colombianas ;) And, then it's difficult at times to say or tell 'Who is The Hunted'. Lisa Zee says on Nov 23, 2006, 09:06: I have sweet dreams I have the best kind of emotions, when I am preparing for my trip to Medellin. I can`t sleep, I am restless, BUT with joy. I cry, but just to think that I have to say goodbye to my family when I return, I count the minutes, the seconds, until I leave. When the plain is about to land at Rionegro, I cry like a baby with so much joy, and when I leave, I cry, because I don`t know when I can go back. I ALWAYS HAVE A WONDERFUL AND SAFE TIME. I stay with my family in nice "barrios" and spend most of the time at "FINCAS" . I do not have one bad experience. MY FAMILY WOULD NOT WANT TO LIVE ENYWHERE OTHER THAN COLOMBIA. I hate to come back, to work, to have to clean, wash dishes, wash clothes, cook. I think women in the USA, are like slaves!. I am doing everything possible to go back to live in Colombia. I guess everyone has a different experience, depending where they grow up.
