Will be visiting both cities soon and am interested to know about the nightlife in both Pereira and Manizales. Does anyone know the locations of the main districts for nighttime entertainment, bars, clubs, discos, restaurants, cafes? Unfortunately, there does not seem to be too much info on these cities on the internet so I am trying to gather some info from my fellows PBHers. If anyone has any interesting info and recommendations for Pereira or Manizales I would be very grateful.

Both cities are lovely and are big enough to offer lots of choices for fun. Very few tourists. I liked both cities a lot.

Papi de Alejo says on Sep 6, 2008, 14:27: Does anyone know of any good but inexpensive places to stay in Manizales. The novia and I are doing a not quite so Grand Tour of Colombia and Manizales is one of the stops that she wants to make. Looked on the internet and only found two hotels, both of which seemed to be very expensive. Any ideas? PdA 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Cheers Terry says on Sep 6, 2008, 14:53: The hotels in Manizales have almost no Internet presence. I don't remember the place I stayed, but it was around 50,000/night for a very nice private double room with en-suite bath. There are lots of choices.

However, one of the clubs there is Mango Biche, much in the same vein as Mangos in Medellin. Not my thing, but there are many other clubs there which are just as nice. We stayed at Hotel Marlizz across the puente in Dos Quebradas. Nice rooms at about 50k/night. It was brand new at the time(a year ago). Nice folks, too. I am going to be vague but it will give you an idea for nightlife. The nightlife in both cities is great, although its for weekends. Investment Strategy - buying when others are crying!! christobeldawg says on Sep 6, 2008, 22:26: I visited Manizales, didn't see much nightlife, as it is pretty small, but has several universities, so there is likely something going on. I wish I could remember the place I stayed, because it was very comfortable, and the cost, including breakfast and lunch, was about 35 dollars a night. Very nice, friendly town, not too many tourists, and dirt cheap compared to Bogota. admittedly, arriving can feel great too 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

pedro (☼Travelguide writer) says on Sep 7, 2008, 07:13: Manizales. The main cluster of bars is in El Cable, right near Cable Plaza shopping centre. It gets going quite early in the evening (cafes) and later there are discotecas. que nota! 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
