Nightlife in Bogota

Hi.

I just browsed 160 pages and can't find anything on the subject. Searches on PBH are a TRUE pain in the a**.

Anyway ... any tip about the current best spots (both for weekdays and weekends) in Bogota is welcome.

Are Luna Bar and Leona on 116 with 18 on wed ladies night or BBC on thu still happening ? .. and what about San Angel in parque 93, Tribeca, Pipeline, Babar, Sheyka, ect ..is it still hip ? ... which places do the mid-to upper class party-goers frequent currently ?

Thanks in advance

Thanks Rubito for your answer.

Can you elaborate about 116 area and Luna Bar ?

I just look for nice mid-to upper class places, with a good party atmosphere, and with "normal" people. Babeage is a ++ of course, yet I'm not *especially* after prepagos and gringo-infected spots, even if on weekdays (my biggest worry) there's from what I know not many alternatives in Bogota.

Music .. well I quite often go to Sao Paulo where I go party in ANY place, from forro halls in Pinheiros or pagode/MPB bars in Moema to irish pubs in Itaim Bibi, techno clubs in Vila Olimpia, lounges in Jardins or after-hours in Centro.

As I said, my only worry is to optimize *everyday* of my vacations (gonna stay three weeks in Bogota, and once more, my main worry are weekdays .. arent ZR and 93 a morgue zone Sun/Wed ?) .. sleazy low-level bars, musical spots, mid-level venues, pubs, elite clubs, everything is ok as long as it's happening and the babeage is correct (more than correct is actually better lol).

Thanks for your answer anyway, i appreciate. Drop me a PM if you ever go to Sao Paulo and need tips.

Have a look under my posts - there is a long old one that is still valid.

Lunabar is good - have been many times. Thurs is singles night. Salto is still good thurs fri and sat. Kukamakara is great - on the 15th below p 93. Has live bands fri sat. El Sitio (the new on) is the best, but exy. Its where the old Tabu was and has live musc and packed Thur Fri ad Sat. BBC's are now everywhere - p 93, cuico, usequen, zona rosa, zona g, 85 with 13. Irish pub is better. In 93 a bar called Calling London opened - good place. Also the one in Usequen has live bands on Fri.

Babar was closed but now may be open. Dry Dancatoria on 85 with 13 - good place. Also for later Gotica or Cinemea (about 75 with 14). Cha Cha still going strong nd as always get to Chia for Andres del Carne Res.

ahh - and there is a new hip bar on the 15th street below p 93, but the name escapes me. From 93 go dwn to 15th and tur right, its about a block along. Great place and hip.

Ahhhh - and in zona rosa now a very upmarket bar just up from WOK. Very hip but sometimes gringos cant get in (well this one anyway).

Thanks Bikerrs. Great tips indeed. If you're in BGT let's meet up to down a few Coronas and share stories.

Which elite place, even if muc pretentiousness is at its most garish, is crawling with gorgeous 20-30 yo on weekends ?

Rubito, thanks.

BTW Pinheiros, Moema, Itaim Bibi, Vila Mariana or Vila Olimpia are not "pimp areas", but the epicenters of SP regular nightlife.

The place i mentioned (where I cant remeber the name of the bar) is packed with hotties (up market hotties) - I will find the name for you. El Sitio is also much more up market (beers 9000 peso for a little can). I like Kukamakara - great vide, good crowd.

On Wed nights there is a packed bar in Candalaria - wll get the name, more grungy though so not my scene. Cha Cha is good Wed as well.

I am in Med now, but will be back in Bogota for a few days on about the 26th so if u r there we can grab a beer!!

this post has a few still valid!!!

The bar I mentioned before is Socorro - you may have difficulty getting in.

Invitro in Chap Alto used to be packed on Wed. Very model type acress crown.

Quibra Cantro (in Candalaria) is the grunge type one I mentioned before for Wed night.

Rubito, yeah, Sao Paulo Zona Oeste neighborhoods are the wealthiest areas of the city, stretching on about 20 kilometers. There's literally hundreds of good venues there.

Thanks both of you for your help anyway. There's enough good tips in this trhead to keep a monger busy for 6 monthes. :)

if you're into goth but like everything else know beforehand where it is and I would only take taxi then be careful inside like anywhere else.

Damn Rubito I should of consulted you before my trip last May but then again I proly would of wimped out since scared to go to the Goth place after seeing it and the areas around it during the day. 93 was ok for a couple nights but if there longer would definetely check out the other places.

Thanks

I agree with Rubito, 82 and 93 are extremely over priced. Candelaria and Chapinero have better and cheaper places.

Rubito
Las Americas, carrera 71D right where the streets change from north to south, and the WHOLE general vicinity

There are a few good night clubs righ there on Americas and Av. Boyaca, but Rubito meant Primera de Mayo and Boyaca where "cuadra picha" is located.

I believe the place you are referring to is actually Sayaca, not Socorro. Scirocco is in the Zona T. Other good places (but many probably find them very overpriced) include Alma, Gavanna, Philomena, Vinacure, Corazon, Paradiso. For cheaper fun, Galerias is a lot of fun. Specifically TonyK is good. Cuadra Picha (Primer de Mayo) is great, but can be a little intense at times. For a younger student crowd and cheap, 51st in Chapinero is recommended.
