see www.calimansion.com

Thanks

Miguel I don't think those guys know Aussie Greg. I hear his partner Robert is seriously thinking about opening a place in Cali.

I met a friend of his in Cali that was looking for places that gringos can rent. I'm actually considering letting them rent my apartment out.

The guys that frequent Medellin Mansion and Roberts Castillo de Medellin are surprisingly upscale. Neither place is a brothel but they are more than happy to point you in the direction of one if you are so inclined.

itguy says on May 29, 2007, 17:21:

Your right I don't know my own url... thats what happens when you live in Cali 4 months.

For those interested no we are not a brothel. We do not make money from any girls. We do not have girls working in the house. We are not connected with Aussie Greg.

This Mansion is our home and we are having some fun and making some extra money to help pay for the lifestyle.

If people want to bring working girls back to the house we can't prohibit that as we would lose a significant portion of our market, however this has nothing to do with what we are offering.

Hope this cleared things up

Not a Brothel !!!!!!! what is up with that cali mansion? if you guys are trying to make some extra income with the rooms, don't you think pictures of those can help or is it that the chicks come with the rooms. Gosh this is hilarious. I can understand you guys being in cali for 4 months and being overwhelmed with beauty but it will only be for so long. website needs a lot of work, a lot. I can probably give you better info than that of calimansion.

we are just having some fun and hope to share the experience. If you don't like it... dont come

Itguy - you mean you only want cool "punters" As cool as the dudes in the photo of Aussie Greg's dining table. I'd rather have Sadam Hussein, Stalin, and the Ayotollah Homeni as guests.

What's your definition of cool? Someone who has the cash to pay for nookie?

Your comment is one of the funniest I have seen!!

Arthur Brode - surely you meant "puta up or shut up"?

Hilarious website!!! Some classics! Experts on Cali
All of 4 months experience! Deep.
"we know Cali nightlife better than anyone"....oh really?

"Salsa capital of the world"
Although Cali calls itself this - you cannot compare its salsa heritage with places like Havana or Puerto Rico.

Gerry - the driving force?
"He has been the driving force on me to get this website done"
Your website looks as if it was developed circa 1994. Gerry needs to be driving you a bit harder my friend...and I know where! I can only imagine why you decided to abandon the IT business!

Simon the party animal?
"I am known for getting incredibly drunk and jumping off the roof of the house in to the pool". You sound like the ideal host. Responsible, mature, and concerned about safety.

Attractions
"Cooming soon"...so there aren't any yet?

Simon, I'm so glad that I was not one of your IT clients!! Believe me, with handywork like this - it's better for you to work remotely.

Like I said. We are simply providing rooms. Why is that so hard to believe? Niether Gerry or myself have ever recruited the services of a prostitute for oursleves or anyone else in cali. The girls in the photos are some of our very close friends... one is my girlfriend

I am telling you now not to consider coming to our house if you expect that it is a whore house. Simply it is not and you will be disapointed.

Our description of someone cool is any man or women aged 18-99 who probaly doesn't have the time to reply to this forum (because they have better things to do) but is just reading over it and they are thinking that parting for a week in Cali with a bunch of young guys with a big mansion sounds like a great way to experience Cali

Hanging with two Gringos? Thats how you experience Cali? I mean it is so disappointing to hear that jumping off roofs into a pool with two Gringos is how someone would want to experience Cali. I can do that shit in San Francisco. I go to Cali to learn about my roots and other people should go not only to just party but learn about the Colombian culture. IT dude you have been there for 4 months have you even learned Spanish yet? Come on guy...

If you post something on a forum, you should be prepared for opinion from all sides. My opinion on this website was objective, based on statements made by the owners. Will you be staying there my friend?

medefockinllin says on May 30, 2007, 06:48:

Guys...what makes it a mansion as opposed to just a big house? I would like to understand why this word is used so liberally? I can understand that Medellin Mansion has a certain ring to it, but Cali Mansion is just blatantly plagiarizing no? Why not Casa Cali? I looked up mansion in wikipedia....your place doesn't quite seem to sit with the definition...is this not slightly misleading? For example, if I had a top floor apartment, could I honestly market it as a penthouse?

0 funny, 0 helpful.

Miguel_Clavo says on May 30, 2007, 10:05:

I am sure they are aware of the Medellin Mansion, and this was a marketing choice on the selection of the name and domain name....obviously they are trying to get the same clientele as AussieGreg...why else would they name it CaliMansion, which is real close to Medellin Mansion? if they didnt want people to think it was in the same type of business, why would they name it as such? No brainer.....

Just my opinion...

I should buy up the domain name www.mycolombianmansionisbiggerthanyours.com

Miguel Clavo - we often seem to share the same opinion.

Not only is it not original...but if you don't want it to have the same impression as Aussie Greg's business model then why copy the name format?
It reminds me of the movie Coming to America...McDonalds has the golden arches, McDowells had the golden arcs! Sex of one and half a dozen of the other?

EMAN says on May 30, 2007, 10:32:

Miguel - I just came back from here and it is not the MM I wanted to get away for Memorial Day weekend and wanted to see what the Cali Mansion was. No prepagos and no hourly/nightly girls sitting in the living room. The guys are great and they have made a decision NOT to be like the MM. I would say a large majority of the guys coming to Colombia are looking for something like MM but some guys like me who are traveling solo want to hang out with some cool guys and meet there HOT friends!!

Medefockin - I am not sure if it is mansion or a big house - I don't know difference either. The whole street looked like it was built 15 years ago by Cocaine money. They have a guard house at the house and area - for maid’s quarters. Cali Big House does not sound as good as Cali Mansion

Miguel - You are correct that people would think the MM and the CM are the SAME but I was there 4 nights and they are not. Actually, a few of the other guests thought the same thing and moved on as they were looking for women coming in and out all day.

Has a nice ring of naivety to it! Very humorous! You are a marketing genius..

Miguel_Clavo says on May 30, 2007, 17:27:

Eman...then maybe they need to come up with a new name and domain name.....all that is a dime a dozen....seems to me that they chose that name just for that reason....but, now they get the bad with the good, i guess....personally, i would change the name.....CaliBigHouse sounds like a prison..jajajaja....but like they say, even bad publicity is publicity, which is what new businesses strive for.....I dont doubt that is it like you say, however, i would suspect they had something to do with the timing of your post and the flack they are getting on PBH....now, it may be that they just need to rent the rooms out to help pay the cost of the place...more like rooms to share type thing, but "mansion" brings up other thoughts...

CaliMansion - are you paying taxes? Are you a registered business paying taxes? I heard that the DIAN is cracking down on private rentals.

medefockinllin says on May 30, 2007, 19:07:

Comisionistas are mobile and difficult to catch Mansions or big houses are immobile and proof of wrongdoing is easier to get hold of.

I would love to see Colombia prosper and benefit from increased tax revenues. I guess that you are saying that only honest people should pay taxes? Try explaining your tax avoidance to some kid with leukemia in tears because they know that they have no healthcare provision. Or to the six year old boys that sell pens for a living and can't go to school because their parents are too f**ed up to look after the family.

Question...have you (plural) not taken enough from this country without paying taxes on your earnings to help those in need? And please don't come back to me with details of your charitable donations and the fact that the govt is corrupt with taxes. This argument doesn't stand up...charitable donations are separate from taxes, and all govts misuse taxes.

Call me a snitch even though I have not snitched on you?!! I don't even know where your big house is.

NOTE TO MODERATORS - I HAVE BEEN VERY CIVIL ABOUT THIS AND AM NOT INSULTING ANYONE.

Itguy - do you have any basic concept of accounting? You mentioned that the money is used to support your lifestyle, so it's obviously not part of COGS. You have to pay tax on your net profits. I take it that you are registered as a business with the CdC? If not, an injunction can be taken out against you and your property.

Please freeze this thread Yes we are so drop it. I really have had enough of you medefockinllin. I understand this is a public forum and you can say what you want however I do have to ask why you feel the need to drill me with questions that frankly are none of your business. You are obviously not planning to stay in the house so I don't see why I should discuss our accounting practices on a public forum with you.

I get that you either A. have way too much time on your hands and like getting involved with other peoples business or B. your just a plain arsehole or C. both

Either way I don't really care. How about you cut me some slack as if anything I am hoping that what we are doing may make some small influnce on the amount of tourists coming to Cali and therefore benifit the whole community.

Now that you know we are not promoting sex tourism I really don't know what your grudge is.

Moderators can you please freeze this thread as it has now gone of the point.

Itgiy, my friend - a few clarifications 1) YOU HAVE BROKEN THE FORUM RULES BY INSULTING ME AND CALLING ME AN A**SEHOLE. AT NO POINT HAVE I BEEN VULGAR TOWARDS YOU.

2) I am not drilling you, but am left a bit confused about your answers. My interest is in the Colombia and the people of the country.

3) You are not obliged to answer any questions that you prefer not to answer. I am not a lawyer and this is not a court of law.

4) MODERATORS ARE NOT OBLIGED TO LISTEN TO EITHER YOU OR ME. THERE IS NO POINT IN BARKING ORDERS TO THEM. I HAVE NOT ASKED YOU TO BE SANCTIONED FOR CALLING ME AN A**HOLE

5) I know nothing about you and have not accused you of anything. I don't even know you and have no grudge against you.

6) I wish you and anyone else operating a business the very best of luck. I hope that you can contribute positively to the growth and image of the country.

6) As per the laws of Colombia, all businesses should be registered and taxes paid on net income. I am merely stating what the law is. Don't tell me that Australians don't moan about foreigners coming in from abroad and not paying their dues....IT'S IN JOHN HOWARD'S MANIFESTO! Just because Colombia is a third world country, it doesn't mean that its laws should not be respected.

Like I said, I wish you all the best for your business and hope that you find the happiness that you seek. I will say no more on the matter.
