I read a forum topic about affectionate nicknames, and before I call my Colombian novia
"kitten/gatito" I wanted to check with others here if that nickname would have any negative/insulting conotations...? (Isn't Gata used at times to refer to prostitutes?)
I am trying to be romantic - don't want to piss her off. She has sharp fingernails, and she bites...nicely.

utopiacowboy says on Dec 10, 2004, 11:03: It probably isn't even a real word but I call my wife "pequeñita". We never call each other Papi or Mami! Mongolico is my middle stepson's favorite nickname for just about everyone. Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult. 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

teppar says on Dec 10, 2004, 23:13: mi novio.... my novio hates the papi and mami nicknames....i pretty much stick to baby or tontin when he is being silly. he calls me pollito (i'm blond and little...for some reason this reminds him of a chicken) or chiquitin. i love all the other nicknames people have suggested, but it still feels too weird for me to use. i don't speak spanish (yet) so it feels a bit odd to just call him mi cielo or something like that.
