the USA should lay claim to that island ;) I'm quite sure, we could get enough people to go down to defend ('r....take it!) and then stay for awhile.

Voy para del Sur

Where do we go from here?

Was there yesterday I was just in San Andres over the long weekend. We ended up staying at the Sol Caribe Campo which had a spectacular view from our room. Johnny Cay is also really nice. This was our first visit. We had a great time and will go continue to go whenever we can.

I will post some pics when I get a chance.

Peace,
CG

I wish I was still there We left San Andres on Monday. I will get some pics up by this weekend and will post a link.

San Andres Hey Kids,

Im headin over to Carnavales in Bquilla in 2008, and am going to pop into San Andres for around 5 days. Ive had a quick look and i saw there are a few all inclusive resorts, a chain of them, but im not sure whether thats the best way to go about it or not. Im not much of a fish eater, however would still like to try different restaurants. I will be travelling with my gf. Can anyone advise on some nice 4/5 star properties?

Simon Hey SImon,

Ive been looking more into San Andres, im not sure whether to go for the All inclusive option (one of the decameron properties) or just get a nice hotel and sort ourselves out.

You got any recommendations?

We liked all-inclusive Most of the nicer hotels are all inclusive except for the Sunrise.

We liked the Sol Caribe Campo all-inclusive hotel but more so for the grounds and the view than the food and drink.

The Decamerons seem very nice, but they are extremely crowded this time of year and have some annoying issues. For example, you have to wait in line at 8am to make dinner reservations. Of the Decamerons, the San Luis and Aquarium locations seem the nicest.

The Sunrise is nice, but I have heard read a lot about A/C and plumbing problems. One couple at our hotel had stayed at the Sunrise before and the A/C leaked and flooded their room.

The Noble House seems like a nice place. It is small and close to the beach.

Keep one thing in mind. Most hotels in el Centro are not on the beach and often have no views. It is a dense shopping hotel district and you will likely be a few blocks from a beach.

I will post some more info and pics later.

Peace,
CG

That is Sol Caribe Campo That is almost exactly the view from our hotel room and balcony. We literally sat up in bed and that was the view we saw. The roofs in the foreground are the hotel rooms.

I will put up a bunch of pics in the next few days.

Sol Caribe Campo How much did this cost you? Also where abouts is it located in San Andres? My GF and i were looking at the Decameron Aquarium, as we are both Travel Agents from AUS, and can most likely get a good discount. We will be there just after Carnavales in Bquiilla so Feb 2008.

We paid $2.200.000 for both of us. This included airfare from Bogota, three nights at the Sol Caribe Campo(all-inclusive) and all transfers, taxes etc. The Decamerons were maybe $50.000 more, but they are supposedly extremely crowded around this time of year.
