Nicaragua rattles saber over Colombian border

“In this battle we Central Americans need to unite against the expansionist attitude not of the Colombian people, but of the Colombian oligarchy, which is subject to the interests of the big transnationals and the interests of the empire, Ortega said during a speech last Friday. “ Colombia is a country that is occupied militarily by the United States.

How about the expansionist attitude of the Venezuelan government? As for Colombia being occupied by the US military? Well, I know 4 USSF guys in Cali but I don´t expect that counts.

Scotty, we got 3 squadrons of F-15s out of Eglin, and a couple of squadrons of F-22s out of Tyndall (Panama City) ready to go. Don't Forget Pensacola NAS, Homestead AFB, the base in Tampa, Jacksonville NAS, Fort Rucker Army base, Hurlburt Field, Duke Field, etc. I am sure they would love the opportunity to help out a friend. Venezuela is 15 minutes out of Eglin AFB airspace. There is more military hardware within 2 hours COMMERCIAL flight time from Venezuela than maybe anywhere else in the world besides active combat zones.

How could I forget my favorite - NAS Key West? That is probably 1/2 hour from Caracas at 1700 miles per hour.

Scotty, I like how you think, but with the upcoming change of government in the US, I'm afraid the US might leave us alone in that scenario, but that's ok, we can still take on those commies!

Simon, you have a very good point there. If something were to happen right now Im sure W would jump right down Chavez throat. However, you are right if the political leadership changes in 10 months from now which it very well could, then Colombia and several of our friends may be on their own.
The Dems do not like Uribe and do not really care about Colombia in general, so if our politics here change you better be ready to hold your own ground.
Besides i think Colombia can kick just about any of their neighbors asses including Chavez.

I will tell you this Simon if something were to happen like Chavez attacking Colombia even if our liberal goverment would not help i am willing to bet that thousands of americans would go to Colombia and volunteer to fight for Colombia.
