Nicaragua becomes the next anti-Colombian nation

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7282336.stm

The only country that should be cutting ties with Colombia is Ecuador. Ortega is a jackass, and Chavez even moreso.

These reports of irrationality are getting increaingly angering.

These new leftist Latin American leaders, especially Chavez and Ortega, need to get off their self-righteous and bigoted high horse.

Correa too, but at least he has a reason to be irked, not that I condone his efforts to paint Ecuador as some poor victim of Colombian international crime, which is a complete skew on the whole situation.

Frankly if US forces came into Canada and destroyed an Al-Qaeda cell, I would be happy, but that's only me.

It's convenient for Nicaragua to take that side because they are in the middle of a dispute with Colombia for San Andres. Of course they are going to side against Colombia. But really, this is a rather irrelevant move to the current issues because of alterior interests.

However, for Chavez' involvement it is different. For everyone critisizing Chavez (specifically, not for prior dislikes of the man) for putting troops on the border and cutting off diplomatic relations with Colombia. Is it not justifiable given that Colombia claims that Venezuela harbours terrorists, to take every precaution possible given that Colombia showed no respect for foreign sovereignty?

romy,

There is no doubt Ven. harbours FARC terrorists, there are many reports from Ven. people who live on the border to confirm this, these reports have been going on for years and increasing of late.

If Chavez is not a FARC suppoter why did he not send more troops sooner, the FARC and other narco groups cause plenty of problems for his own people in the border region.

Basically he doesn't care about his people, he cares more about the FARC.

aztec says on Mar 6, 2008, 14:49:

buggy, What the hell are you talking about?

azunoman says on Mar 6, 2008, 14:59:

I was in Medellin when Reyes got the poop bombed out of him. First report was that Correa supported Colombia in taking out Reyes which no doubt really pissed off Chavez. I can only imagine the berating Correa got from Chavez especially since Chavez buys Ecuadorian bonds amongst other countries that must tow the line. This is the same crap any power pulls and shows us that Chavez is really no better than any other leader when it comes to bribery. .

Northern Ecuador just like southern Colombia is being terrorized by terrorist (FARC). It was in Correa's and Ecuador's interest to be rid of the problem.

Regardless if the laptops shows Chavez is/was supporting the terrorists he is supporting them by throwing a bloody fit about it. Big deal he got a few fortunates away from the FARC, what about the 700 others?

My feeling as an American is that we (the US) should help Colombia find everyone of the FARC and hang them by their toes. I think many of our solders now in Iraq would find a stint in Colombia refreshing. We are long over due for some general butt kicking in S. America.

Chavez seems to have more in common with the FARC than just their declared socialist politics.

Guess the FARC will have to revert to smoke signals, talking on satellite (US owned) can be dangerous to your health. Patriot Act? We don't need no stinking Patriot Act!

It is all laughable. Ortega invafed Honduras for practically the same reasons, but of course he was justifide.

I was watching CNN today with a report from the White House that the pres is considering adding Venezuela to the list of terrorists states. Bush also wants to grt a warrant for his arrest in Nacro trafficing. They also will cut off Hugo's oil to the U.S. who is the only country bedsides Canada that can process the high sulfur crude that Venezuela has.

It is not life that matters, but the journey.

Man, I hope so! That would be a serious bitch slap to Chavez!

Excuse me, but it is most definitely anti-Colombia. They are complaining about an action taken by the Colombian military and decisions made by the government of Colombia. Sure, they are attacking Uribe personally as a part of their rhetoric, but your observation, buggy, is just silly. One could say it doesn't merit a serious response.

buggy says on Mar 7, 2008, 07:31:

It is the government of Colombia who is anti-Colombian.
With their lies and with the agression against ecuadorian sovereignty, they threw Correa into Chavez's arms.
When a government adopts the same methods as the terrorists, he becomes a terrorist state.
Like the USA with Guantanamo or in Iraq.

I think the comparisons are not justifiably the same.... Sticking to the OP... Ortega has becomes Chavez's bitch, but that's not surprising, for the most part Nicaragua suffers to keep it's head above water and probably figures that the only friend they have is Venezuela... Which of course is more damaging to Nicaragua then Ortega actually realizes...

I had to disagree. Things should be worked out. Chavez won´t be the Fidel Castro of South America, therefore he won´t last long. But to blame all neigboor for the fault of a few citizens is not the case here.

I wish Colombia well and that includes the independence from all foreing forces, not just Chavez. Venezuela, Ecuador and Colombia were and still are brothers and sisters. Politics should not change that. Drugs, corruption and hate are the main problems, we can´t not blame entire countries of bad happenigs.

Nicaragua, might be getting already a big piece of our (shoudl I say my) Loved Colombia.

But, I'm going to start making some assumptions here.... Which means I might actually end up making an ass out of myself ..........Thu 04 17, 2008 11:34 am

I read an interview with Chávez in Newsweek, maybe two years ago, where he expressed a similar sentiment.

He said, "I am not anti-U.S., only anti-Bush".

He went on to say that he could talk with Bush Sr., and with Clinton, but not with Baby Bush.
