NFL Opening Game: Giants vs. Redskins Thursday 6pm - ojo not on TV in Colombia!

If you are in Colombia, please note that the opening game is NOT available thru any Colombian cable comapny or direc tv colombia. The only official stream is via the NFL Gamepass package and might I suggest that the NFL Gamepass HD package as the resolution is incredible. That package costs USD$240 and gives you access to every regular season game and streams up to 4 games that you choose simultaneously. Direc Tv colombia listened to our shouting after they slashed the number of games last year so this year they met us half way and will now give us a mosaic showing 6 games at once along with 3 individual games, plus the game on fox sports Mexico (only available on Direc Tv) which also shows both an early and late game. At Champions Sports Bar in Medellin, we have the NFL Gamepass HD package, add the Direc TV colombia sunday ticket and we will have ALL games shown simultaneously on two 240 inch projection screens plus 12 TVs, so you will not have to miss one NFL game the whole season. We can even re-stream a game for you up to 48 hours after the game ends. And the best is we can also put in bets for you in our offshore account, pay winners at the final whistle and we take all major credit/debit cards. Full kitchen with extensive menu & bar fully compliant and inspected by the Alcaldia de Medellin Secretaria de Salud. Plenty of free private parking. Come at 4pm for the NFL Season Opening Concert streamed free via NFL.com. We are at La 80 con 28, Barrio Belen la Palma. Inside Del Oeste Hamburguesas. Tel: 3434343

According to ESPN's website you are wrong. The game will be on ESPN just like every other game that was broadcasted on NBC last year. Go Giants!

Maybe you are right and maybe not. I dont know that intltv.espn.com page but it seems more like a corporate page and the listings you chose is for "latin america north 9a". Try tv listings from this link off of espn.com where I chose Colombia and the game is not listed:

http://espndeportes.espn.go.com/sports/tvlistings/deportes/index?date=...

it is not an easy thing to figure out, I will tell you that. I will say I have not seen ONE commercial on ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPN+ all week here in MDE about this game. I also looked at the onscreen guide for direc tv and it has US Open Tennis in that timeslot. However, direc tv is wrong many times. So should I put you down for 50 mil on the g-men laying 4?

ESPN does not have the rights to the game. NBC is the one showing it. If you don't have an FTA with a good size dish and the latest bin, then you will have to pray that it will be shown is some Spanish station. I watched the superbowl in Turbaco Colombia and did not enjoy it as much. I rather watch it in English. I got on line and got me the game plus the playoff games on eBay. Much better.

The Spanish commentators kept talking about how good the Patriots were and that it would not be long before they started to score to beat the Giants. They finally gave the Giants credit when Plexico scored the final touchdown.

By the way, I mentioned FTA. Well, if you know what I mean, the game will be shown on channel 8102.

Do any of you two know if there is a TV giude that is real for UNE in Medellín - internet or paper? The guide on chanel 1 or 2 is nice but only good for the following 2 hours.

The two links are not for the same coverage area or so it seems.

Yank you are saying that tomorrow night the NFL game is on ESPN in Medellín?

if you want to view the games for free I suggest googling "sopcast" and "myp2p dot eu". enjoy the season!

SPorts my fav topic.

Sopcast? Watch sports on your computer? Exciting (for nerds).

Wouldn't you rather go out and watch it with a bunch of drunk screaming lunatics eating chicken fingers at a bar served by Hooters chicks while wearing a hat with two beer cans and a funnel attached to it? It's more fun to be an ass in public for hours on end, I think.

spigrimace says on Sep 4, 2008, 05:09:

the only problem with p2p streams (sopcast, etc) is you never know the quality of the stream you are going to get. Sometimes they are awesome, many times lower quality but acceptable and then times where it is downright unwatchable. The NFL streams usually get hammered by tens of thousands of fans all over the world and get mucked up because of the volumes downloading it. Thats why id rather pony up the cash and get and 1100 kbps stream off of NFL Gamepass HD. Sometimes P2P is the only alternative and I am still grateful to those who take their time and money to stream.

Hard to believe Chris , but looks like the game is not on tonight , not even Directv with the Pass ??

So basically its the half package we got stuck with last season .. 3 games at 1:00 along with the redzone and 3 at 4:00 with the redzone ???

i did pick up the Gamepass HD. the site went live yesterday and it looks very good. there was a tab for NFL network shows too. i'm excited about it! i like the option of watching the games when i am free and being able to fast forward through the breaks.

go giants!

Juli, I am not sure if you are being serious, sarcastic or if you just love sports so much that you can hardly stand it.

Roc----- based on the info on the site above, and the fact that EVERY Sunday night game that was broadcasted in the states on NBC on Sunday nights (last season) was broadcast here on ESPN last year, I am confident the game will be on ESPN here in Colombia. They broadcasted a Monday night Giants/Browns preseason game this season. That was an NBC game as well.
That being said, 'spigrimace' is dead on when he says 'it is not an easy thing to figure out' what the actual programming schedule is. I have been misled before by bad info......even when there were tons of promos for 'upcoming programming' for specific baseball games on ESPN games were not broadcasted.
That being said, I will be ready to get my ass in a taxi to head to Bogota' Beer Company (I'm actually in Bogota', not MDE) to watch the game if for some reason the game is not on ESPN.
Actually the new Hooters may be a good option as well. Is anyone certain that the game will be shown there as well?
According to the schedule I posted above, there will be a couple NFL films specials before the game begins. It is a safe bet that if you see these shows on ESPN beginning at 4pm, that the game will follow.
Go Blue!!!!!

Im definitely tuning in tonight, curious to see how the defense is going to look. Alot of doubts since Osi's season ending injury, Strahan retirement, Plaxicos ankle etc... Whatever, Lets go GIANTS!

mike08 says on Sep 4, 2008, 13:51:

EL Polo, i think the defense will play well. They had some good pickups. I am pumped to see a divisional win to start the season! It seemed like Eli used to freeze up a little during these big stage games but he should have more confidence than any QB in the league right now.

YankeeInMDE says on Sep 4, 2008, 14:15:

Wow!!! Check out all the Giants fans! Nice to know I'm not alone.
For what it's worth, I just saw a promo during the US Open tennis for the game tonight.
Let's hope it's on because it's another friggin COLD and RAINY day in Bogota' and I'd rather watch the game at home.
Go G-men!!!!

spigrimace says on Sep 4, 2008, 14:53:

Yankee, was the promo in spanish or english? Many times during a broadcast that originates in the US, they have commercials but they are for the US (or even just for mexico at times). I have ESPN, ESPN and ESPN2 on simultaneously here while streaming the concert and still I havent seen a promo. Anyway, keep the cab money in your pocket just in case and enjoy the season.

You guys have fun screaming at the TVs and getting drunk with a bunch of other frat boys.
