Church mediates between Uribe and Supreme Court
Colombian President �lvaro Uribe met with Supreme Court President Francisco Javier Ricaurte to try to overcome the frictions between the Government and Colombia’s highest court. The meeting was organized by the Archbishop of Bogotá.

PS. this news just pisses the hell out of me, and I hope it does to more people as well, but if it doesn't then whatever, I'm off for more stampeding

The judiciary and the prosecutors disagree with the defense's claim that the detention was illegal.

Not that such a thing is shocking, but there it is.

Así lo determinó el Tribunal Superior de Bogotá al negar un recurso de hábeas corpus que había interpuesto la defensa.

Previamente a esta decisión, la Fiscalía también había negado este recurso.

El planteamiento de la defensa de los guerrilleros, capturados la semana pasada en la exitosa operación de rescate de los 15 secuestrados, argumenta que su detención fue ilegal.

Según Iguarán, el hábeas corpus no aplica porque estas personas tenían órdenes de captura por los delitos de secuestro desde antes de que se implementara el actual Sistema Acusatorio.
