New Years Eve in Bucaramanga

Looks like I'll be spending New Years Eve in Bucaramanga. Friend there has invited me to visit her over NYE and stay with her family. What all will be going on in Bucaramanga for New Years Eve? Any other must-see celebrations, fiestas, sites, etc. around New Years, give or take a couple days?

Not necessarily New Years Eve specific but what are some really good restaurants in Bucaramanga?

oh well... in that case I think we are at about the same point because I haven't been there for a couple years so my advice will be outdated.

The only timeless place that I recommend is Cafe Converso... make sure to take a couple hours to sit there and enjoy the charm... it's tiny tiny but so lovely.

make sure you try "marcagan" ...sorry spelling ...its a steak house near cra 33 and calle 48...it has very good steaks and the price compared to back home is a treat....I big ass steak is like 30,000 and comes with yuca fries salad...and very laid back place...and quick service to...and now we have Archie's pizza on car 33 and calle 44 ( I think)

Well, this will be my first NYE here in Bucaramanga also but from what I hear there are a ton of house parties. Fun Fun Fun!
Yes, Vic is right. Mercagan is a great choice. If you like Italian, try Toscana...they have a nice wine list and is a nice place for a romantic dinner. Or for some Asian Fusion there is Yoko next door to it which is still nice but more laid back. They are both a little pricey for restaurants in Colombia but well worth it.

That steak place sounds like it's worth checking out. Thanks Vicshere. Partying and happiness in the streets sounds like fun for New Years Eve, Silviat. I should ask my friend if she and her family already have anything planned for the celebration. I gather they like to party!

Sounds like quite a PBH crowd will be in town over New Years!

Restaurante Toscana has also been officially added to my list of places to try. My amiga is of part-Italian descent, loves Italian food and is a red wine lover so I could definitely use a spot like that for a nice romantic dinner for the two of us!

That Strong Beer at Clocks has Tequila also....it must have been too "strong" for you to remember...Hahaha! But yes, Clocks is a nice relaxing bar with a wide varity of rock, soft rock, alternative music ...Reminds us of a bar along McKinney Ave in Dallas.

not any particular bar on McKinney...it is just Jorge and I lived in Dallas for many years and sometime miss that bar scene. It doesn't remind us of an exact one but for being in Colombia it is probably the closest to one of those you can find here in Bucaramanga. I saw in your profile that you live in DFW so I figured it would be the easiest way to describe it.

Is there a calle 36 con carrera 52? That would be way up there. The one I am talking about (i imagine you haven't been there) is a "puesto de empanadas" that used to open only at nights, right where la carrera 36 and la calle 52 come together, after la presentacion. It was really famous when I lived there, you should check it out (if you eat street food).

Well.. I'll stop writing and finish packing... I am so excited to be going :)!

Ciao!
