Hit a local barrio with some friends - amazing sights, sounds and foods. Last year I got invited with a few friends to a barrio halfway up to Santo Domingo and ended up eating and drinking in about four different homes, dancing the night away and blowing my fingers off with firecrackers!

Cali would be the place to go because of the Feria but hotels in other cities like Medellín and Bogotá offer a New Year's Eve package that includes drinks, food and dancing until the wee hours of the morning. Some even offer "caldo de medianoche" which many people eat to avoid hangovers.
