New motorcycle laws now in my town

Depending on the license plate number, ALL moto's must now pass a polution and equipment inspection. All equipment must be origional. No more of those little lites, signals, mirrors and loud exausts. The inspection isn't cheap at 55 mil pesos. Slowly but surley Colombia is making changes.

Lowell that's a national program called CNT Certificado Nacional Techomecanico... it started last year...which is for all car motos trucks and busses.....and which include a safety inspection and prueba de gas.....unfortunately the contamination standards are set way too low.....allowing for example mottos with 4 stroke to emit up to 10,000 parts per million which is horrendous....by moto passed with just 400 parts per million....any vehicle more than 2 year of the current year must go for this test.....here in B/managa it also cost 55,000 and is only for 2 years

I hope they fix that because every time I go to Colombia I can't breath for like two weeks. It's crazy.

agree monk ...I would have to say CNT is better than nothing and only hope they will raise the standards as they move forward

air in medellin is bad as ever.

my glass is getting shorter on whiskey, ice and water...

Mononoke28 says on May 1, 2008, 08:51:

Oh yeah. The air at La Avenida Oriental and La Playa pretty much burns my insides every time I take a breath. So then I try to breath through my mouth and then I start gagging. And of course I'm walking fast to keep up with the crowd, then the smoke of cigarette goes up my nostrils and it burns again. It's like I'm trapped in the black hole of smog and smoke. Augh.

Oh well, at least it's a start in the right direction.

Thats a great idea! We used to have a good Emission Inspection Law in Florida but under Lobby Pressure, Jeb Bush buckled in and did away with the Law. If anything, the law should have been beefed up with add-ons to inspect the Total Car for Brakes, Turn Signals, headlights, Remaining Tire tread depth; had jeb done this instaed of removing the Law, we could have gotten some of these 3rd world Death Traps off Miami's Byways,,,

RJ--on that Emissions Test I have doubts on its effectiveness at least the way it was administered here in Miami. Once when my Chevy Astrovan failed, I took it to a Neighborhood Cuban Mechanic and for $80, I picked it up 4 hours later all passed for the year. What did he do was the Question? Probably slipped his Buddy at the Test Station $30 and they passed my car. Easy $50 for the Garage owner I went with. Another time, I failed again a few years later and otherwise then refilling my GasTank with Premium Gas instead of Regular gas, I did Nada. Next day, went thru the Emissions Test with Flying Colors. I do believe a Good Multi Point Inspection has value as I mentioned it would rid Florida Highways of the many death traps you see recent immigrant arrivals driving on our highways. Especially the haitians. Damn, they really find some Shitbucket Cars! Lousy Drivers also, those Haitians, if they spot a long lost friend on the street, they'll jam on the brakes without warning smack dab in the middle of a busy street and chat a while while the long line of drivers behind are fuming and ready to go Postal,,,LOL Nice Folks though otherwise then they Suck as Drivers.
