New features

Hi all,
the new site is live, a bunch of small changes.

- The travel section is gone. I'm working on a much improved version, which should be live within a month.
- Signups are open again!
- You can flag a comment if it's against the rules. The moderators will then review that comment. I hope this makes it much easier to point out comments that break the rules.
- You can post links and pictures too. They're almost the same as a forum post, just displayed somewhat differently.
- The homepage (poorbuthappy.com) doesn't have the updates from your friends anymore.
- um, what else? I forgot, there are probably a few more changes :)

Of course, this follows the announcement of the new rules (no more double handles and absolutely no sex talk), and the announcement of kat joining the moderator team :)

Let me know of bugs or things you like or don't like, or just questions.

the 'flag' is an interesting aspect.
I wonder if it will make the mod's jobs more easy, or more difficult?

(you know how unpredictable the pbh crowd can be, no?)

why can't the freakin Chung King Chinese just LEAVE THE FREAKN DOLLY LLAMA and Tibet ... ALONE!

christobeldawg says on May 10, 2008, 00:17:

uh, ok, good to see Kat as a new Mod but where are my friends' updates to be found?

admittedly, arriving can feel great too

goin_south says on May 10, 2008, 00:19:

what's up, Dawg?
Dawg, didn't you read the rules?
'absolutely...no more talk about kat1'... jja

why can't the freakin Chung King Chinese just LEAVE THE FREAKN DOLLY LLAMA and Tibet ... ALONE!

christobeldawg says on May 10, 2008, 00:20:

no mas sex talk? good night forever Elmo and Morph, nice knowing ya.

admittedly, arriving can feel great too

Peter (Moderator) says on May 10, 2008, 00:27:

Friends updates are gone for now...

As for the flagging: abusing the flagging system is also against the rules ;) We'll see how it goes, we're counting on you guys to help point out comments that break the rules..

Poor but snappy

christobeldawg says on May 10, 2008, 00:27:

can Kat actually now moderate me if I say something about her beauty, if that brings us both a feeling of pleasure?

admittedly, arriving can feel great too

Peter (Moderator) says on May 10, 2008, 00:28:

She can if she considers your comment against the rules :)

Poor but snappy

christobeldawg says on May 10, 2008, 00:38:

I know Kat, she is a friend of mine, and she would never dawg me for complementing her on her beauty. Whazzup Peter, GS? Great ideas on the site btw, you got my thumbs up, as I seem to be the only one awake, but I would expect an avalanche of responses by tomorrow, pro and con. I am thinking mostly pro, as there doesn't seem to be anything too dramatic on these changes, but you know how this crowd tends to be.

admittedly, arriving can feel great too

kat1 (Moderator) says on May 10, 2008, 00:51:

somebody should have pressed the flag button here!!! someone is trying to charm a moderator eh? :))))

AWW thanks Christ, i know you are a Gent. :)))

christobeldawg says on May 10, 2008, 00:59:

Charming is not sex talk btw, you old school teacher, oops, scratch out old, but add in British school teacher marm. jaja. Please don't call me Christ, that is too much for me to live up to, as a dawg. I mean, let me evolve at least beyond being a beast before calling my Christ.

admittedly, arriving can feel great too

what's this talking about kat being a "new" moderator? I mean, what's new?

Well, now she is officially a moderator. She's been the moderator of the moderators (honorary title) pretty much like Manuela Saenz was the libertadora of the Libertador.

I knew that she was always lying about it...

tomtom33 says on May 10, 2008, 07:43:

Of course there is. I have seen features on other sites that allow direct uploading to each post. Then you needn't dick around with uploading to other sites.

Peter (Moderator) says on May 10, 2008, 08:47:

Easier uploading of pics is planned for the future, will implement it as soon as I can :)

Peter (Moderator) says on May 10, 2008, 08:48:

And robi: kat was never a moderator, now she is. So that's what "new" means :)

Peter:

To me the edit comment for the time span of an hour seems a bit long.

Proofreading and fixing a few typos or deleting a duplicate post or changing your mind and making a content edit IMHO only needs 10/15 mins tops.

Roci - Amor, sorry sometimes my claws (finger nails) mess up my typing. Probably not a problem for you per say. So as long as posters understand that issue...have fun trying to read any weird typos hehehe

ooops! ....Did I say that?

tomtom33 says on May 10, 2008, 10:36:

Thanks, Peter. I would like to share some photos, but I'm too lazy to jump through the existing hoops. If it isn't point and click, I won't do it.

ColombianoGringo says on May 10, 2008, 10:45:

Peter,

Thanks. The improvements are great.

Will you be leaving the comment counts this way? As it stands, there is no visible difference between a thread in which I've read all the comments or one I've never looked at. Maybe if it is a thread that hasn't been viewed at all, it can list all the comments as new.

Peter (Moderator) says on May 10, 2008, 10:50:

I'm gonna work on the comment counts a bit, but not today :( The weather is too nice! :)

robi666 says on May 10, 2008, 10:52:

eheh... CG... I made the same comment in the Making Changes thread... must be a professional bug noticing it :)

ColombianoGringo says on May 10, 2008, 10:57:

Ha Ha. The funny thing is that the worse people to test your code are yourself and other programmers.

It is not wise to depend on yourself to QC something that you've written because you know how the program should work and won't do the unexpected things that an average user might do.

On the other hand, it is a pain to have other programmers test your code. They always have all kinds of "useful suggestions" since they are not the ones that have to code it. (guilty).

Thanks for all the hard work Peter. Enjoy your day outside. I on the other hand will be stuck inside today working on updates on the administration system for my side company.

robi666 says on May 10, 2008, 11:00:

So true!

ColombianoGringo says on May 10, 2008, 11:12:

What friend's comments feature? I never added anybody as a friend simply because I thought there was no benefit. Had I know about that feature, I would have used the friends capability. I know I can be a bit of a dick sometimes, but I'm not completely anti-social. ;)

PETER....
/////////PETER......

IT WAS PRETTY NICE, WHEN UPON CLICKING INTO AN OLD THREAD...
you didn't always have to scroll down to the NEWLY POSTED comments...
Right now, I don't think that is happening.

Is that one of the NEW FEATURES?

Very True!! This can apply to ANY new project. So really, we are all guinea pigs, jeje. Maybe should have kept the doors closed until all the fine tuning was complete. Either way, you and everything you do are appreicated..;))

ooops! ....Did I say that?

CatGirl says on May 10, 2008, 14:17:

Pssst. On this computer - only way to fix the problem was changing the server...now it allows me to sign in but the screen still goes wacko after I press comment. So it have to click on the back one page button to return to PBH...why is that?

looks kinda like this stuff below....
