New Bar ...Called Bar Lilias ..we only play rock music ....NO VALLENATO .....we are at Carrera 4 con calle 13 ...LOCAL 07 .....

LOOK FOR THE BIG BLACK DOORS ...

Come along and have a cold beer ...we have no idea what we are doing ..so come for the adventure or to watch a disaster unfolding ...either way . it will be fun ...

Yes you can speak english ...Ask for Patrick or Michael ...

We are diagonally across from Olimpica ....and about 50 metres from Frigorodeo ....

By the way at lunch time Frigorodeo does a really good lunch for 5 000 pesos ...you have to go upstairs .....

I am still wearing your tee shirt around Rodadero and Santa Marta.

Good Luck Mike. We'll pop in next time I'm in town.

Brians, why is it that I have yet to see a foto of the Santa Marta T-shirt on PBH? It could be that I missed it, but I'm here almost every day. So what's up with that?

Define Rock music please. As there is good rock in Spanish, mostly from mid 1980s to Early 1990s. Not the "cross over" pop you hear everywhere.

Hombres G (great 1980s pop rock group)
Toreros Muertos (1980s from spain, like a dirty They Might Be Giants, they were friends with Jello Biafra)
Jarabe de Palo (great ballads, and La Flaca is a great song)
Soda Estereo (argentines who knew how to rock)
Los Enanitos Verdes(another great real rock band.
Estopa(mix of rock and flamenco)

If you do not stand up and sing Musica Ligera, Mil Horas, or Lamento Boliviano when they come on, you need to listen to some better latin rock.

And then there was GENITALLICA!

Mike,

No problem.

Colombians tend to listen to the same music forever and ever. The old rock is something you put on when the bar fills up and you really want to get the party started.

The problem is the original spanish rock were mostly all covers of english songs done in spanish, and were pretty bad. Plus, they have always had a great love for Air Supply, Lionel Richie, and super sweet pop music.

You can find some pretty good latin rock mix cds for sale.

This video has got a good go- rocking feel. And a harsh message for party girls.

Kat,

I was born and raised in the states, and father went back to Colombia when I was five.

When I first went there my best friend took it upon himself to beat everything about Colombia into my head. Vargas Vil being one of those things.

My girlfriend dedicated this to me in a very crowded bar and made sure everyone looked at me when it came on. And everyone yelled for us to dance on the table. And I had too.

My car is in Barranquilla at dealer. I have a Rexton and the dealer here in Santa Marta is a disaster - I have more tools in my garage than they do so I drove to BAQ. They were supposed to program a replacement key - the key has a chip it it that communicates with the immobilizer which enables the car to start (security). The dealer here in SM doesn't have a computer so they can't diagnose problems or program the key. The dealer in BAQ ended up trashing the key that worked and left the car in a state where it will not start period since the immobilizer thinks there is a security problem. The dealer in BAQ) communicated with Saangyong in Cali and still no resolution so we had to take a bus home to SM (we did find a great restaurant/bar in BAQ though!!) This was on Friday. As of today (Tuesday) no one knows what is going on and they are saying Thursday - but based on what? There is nothing in this story that logically makes sense to me (and I am a computer engineer). Welcome to Colombia! Larry

Yes Larry ...What ever you want in Colombia is what you will not get ....The minute I go over to homecenter to buy a tool .That is the one they have sold out of ......If you see something and you think you may need it in the next 10 years ..buy it ....Also this has happened twice ..once I was driving a friends car and for the first time were stopped by the police and sure enough her SOAT had run out 2 days before ....then about 2 weeks later I was stopped by the police and my SOAT had run out by 1 day .....I get stopped twice in a year and that is what happens ...go figure......

On the picture front ....my computer will not talk to my camera ...therefore I have to wait for a friend to return on Friday and use his camera and computer to get some pics....OK .....

Larry so if you are feeling despondent about your car ..come along to the game at 4 pm ....
