I am planning on moving to Bogota around the middle of june to study spanish for 5 months most likely at the Universidad de Nacional Bogota. I am currently looking at apartments maninly in the North of Bogota and the Chapinero section. I've only been to Bogota once, and I'm not all that familiar with the proximity of things considering it's a huge city!!! So, are apartments in the Santa Barbara,La Carolina, hico, and Chapinero sections of the city all reasonbly close to the Universidad de Nacional. By reasonably, I mean: will I be able to commute using public transportation each day? Thanks!

Those are upmarket areas so it is more expensive, if you can afford its fine. Chapinero is more middle class, somewhat closer. There is an area called La Soledad, it is a nice area very close to the University, walking distance, and you can find cheaper places. It was a famous area in the 50`s but still nicely kept, in my opinion much nicer than Chapinero for a better price. Chapinero Alto is the mountain side is nice also, lots of students, but the hike might get tiring after a while.
