Need information on Broadband

I know that broadband has been discussed before but I now need to apply the information. Looking to install broadband in Bonda (outside of Santa Marta). What are the options? How much will it cost? and how long does it take to get it installed?

Can´t help you with the Santa Marta area, I´m in Cali.
But I´ve got UniWeb broadband installed through Cable Union. It costs $35,000 pcm with a TV package and the guys came round to install it within 3 days. It has the usual choice of 3 speeds (fast, very fast & really, really fast).
Not sure what the score is where you are.

Thanks for the info. It at least gives me a gauge. Broadband VOIP has got to be cheaper than any card or phone plan to call to the US.

UNE Communcations Cable/Internet/Telephone Package..Stay at 700K or lower not bad but once you want the Banda Acha Plus at a 1 MB or higher your paying the price..and I mean its expensive but use it for work and watcing NHL CenterICE and NFL Gamepass for my Flat screen....and also I have multiple computers and Vonage which can be used at the same time with no problems with Banda Acha plus..

This is Medellin
Out and Out..

Panth, do you think that Vonage will work with 700K? All I really need is the VOIP. How much does it cost you monthly for your service? I'm looking for the combined cost of Banda Ancha Vonage. Right now I pay $500-$650 for telephone calls alone from the US, if I could end up paying 1/4 of that I'm a happy camper.

700K works fine if your not doing heavy usage on the computer at the same time...and using Vonage calls at the same time....I can't remember the price for 700K but the 1 Megabyte service i upgrade was very pricey at that time around 266 Mil Pesos per mes...but I think the price is dropping with Banda Acha plus...it was a big jump in price from 700K to 1 MB ..I went from 500K to 700K and was not to bad but to 1 MB was a big jump....

Vonage 24.99 a month unlimited calls from Medellin to the United States and unlimited to your line in Medellin from the States and connects to your regular telephone they will provide an adapter or router to your choice which means your computer can be off and you can make calls and receive calls on your regular telephone.
UNE: www.une.com.co I think it is and get the latest pricing on Banda Acha per speed...

Well guess what pricing has changed dramatically in the last two months much cheaper...They are now offering XDSL at 3MB and 4MB...and Cable at 1MB and 2MB at excellent pricing I heard everything was changing so my UNE Bill is going to be lower...when I get into town next week...

www.une.com.co is the web address..

Hola!

I call landlines in Colombia for about $5 a month for 300 minutes a week, but it just costs 1.5 cents a minute beyond 300 minutes using 12Voip.com.

If you need a Santa Marta banda ancha rate, try calling a hotel in Santa Marta for information. Your rates will depend on what company covers your immediate neighborhood there.

Hola!

You're Welcome!

I just wished I could get a commission for saving people money!

The 256K speed can fall to 200K, so I would shoot for faster service. I checked my GF's internet connection and it goes from Colombia undernearth the Carribean to Florida, so it can be slower there than regular US internet speeds.

Thanks for all of the comments. Unfortunately, it seems that as you move outside of the cities, the bureaucracy seems to forget there are people who actually live there. Bonda is just not in the plans for any of the internet service providers. I even thought that I would catch a break with Vonage's Latin America add-on, no luck. Only the very largest cities are included. Back to the drawing board.
