Does anyone know of a source where I can get some good ol' Colombian fried ants online? I want to "share" these with my class . . .

Gracias,
Constancia

If you can't find colombian ants, just fry a few american ones, how the hell are those kids going to know the difference ;)

If you are in the US you may want the parents to sign permission slips saying they are ok with their kid eating an ant - otherwise someone will probably claim their kid had a life threatening allergic reaction (explain that to the head of your school district). Cool that you are trying to give the kids insights into another culture, but you should take into account some parents could get pretty upset that the teacher encouraged their kid to eat an ant and then you may have to retain an attorney for all your good intentions.

Your defence would be "that, that doesn't kill them will only make them stronger".

I shared a bag of these tasty morsels with the people I worked with years ago. Only after the fact did my lovely wife tell me I should have removed the legs first. Either way they still taste like a BUG ! Her brother sent them to me as a gift right after Colombia lost to the USA in soccer. He is still laughing.

I remember seeing some being sold in the bus terminal in Bogota...

I tried them here in Bucara, and I agree, they still taste like bugs...yuck.

I would instead have them try some arequipe, or one of the many other Colombian candies that are specific to the country, but will go over much better than the ants.
