Tinto (Moderator) says on Aug 13, 2007, 17:06: What types of American candies are you thinking about? The reason I ask is because some of the mega-selling brands from Mars and Hershey's are already available in Colombia. Higher quality boxed chocolates at a fair price might work (I think they're terribly expensive in Colombia, even the locally made ones) as well as regional candies or what some people call nostalgia candies. The latter are not going to be nostalgic to Colombians, obviously, so they'll only sell if people find them unique and tasty.

chrispej says on Aug 13, 2007, 20:11: American candy is expensive here by Colombian standards. Jeez, anything imported is expensive here. One time I wanted an all american hot dog with saurkraut. The friggin saurkaut (I know I'm spelling it wrong) was 10,000 pesos ($5.00) a can! But I will tell you they are lacking in good quality ice cream. They have Hagen Daaz here but most do not know of Ben & jerry's. I only know of Medellin but anything new here does well in the beginning but not much can pass the test of time. I know of a Buffalo wing place here in Medellin that has awesome wings and the place is always crowded. I've been to one place in the U.S. that can compare.
