Need a furnished apartment for one month in Medellin any suggestions?

I'll be arriving the first week of October and will be in Medellin for one month. My preference is an apartment within walking distance to Parque Lleras, Oviedo, San Fernando Plaza, La Strada, Carulla, Oviedo. I've stayed in the Patio Bonito area, Torres del Futuro and Torres de Patio Bonito to be exact, and those two locations are great for me. I've also stayed in Los Balsos de Oviedo which is a bit far but if the price is right an apartment there will be fine. I've also stayed in a couple of apartments on Loma Los Gonzales at Camino Del Este just above Transinferior and that location is okay too.

Not interested in paying Gringo prices but I do need and apartment with internet access and would prefer an apartment up high with a decent view, with not too much traffic noise, a pool would be nice but not essential, washing machine, decent televisions in the master and living room with a fully equipped kitchen.

Any ideas?

I know Medellin vacation apartments and it is really nice, have a good internet access, washer and DRYER (difficult to find in Medellin), it is a penthouse, about 3 blocks to parque lleras, there's not pool but in front there's a good gym - bodytech - the view is spectacular and the girl who is the manager is bilingual and can help you with everything that you need. If you want check their site at www.medellinvacationapartments.com

jpa: Have you personally stayed in the apartment you are recommending? If so, do you know the monthly rates? It looks like it's in an older building, is that the case? Is it located above the park or ? Any additional details would be greatly appreciated.

I have rented from the Apartment Medellin a few times and generally had a good experience, except for some small things they took care of.

Where are all the people who always jump in on a post where someone is advertising an apartment and you'all jump in and say they are charging Gringo prices and you know of other places for much less?

I'm seriously looking for a decent apartment that isn't over priced so if ANYONE out there is aware of such a place please feel free to comment on this thread.

You could try Marta at RoyalColombia; she showed me some small sitter apartments in Patio Bonito for rent. They are really nice places, furnished, with kitchen / washing machine etc. By small, I mean like 40 sqmetres but you will be surprised at how they fit / look. I think they were 1,300,000 to 1,500,00 a month. if thats not in your price range she might have others.

p.s. She may have moved from that agency but someone else there should be able to help you; its a pretty ''smicked on'' agency for Medellin.

ah just re-read your last paragraph - they are probably too small for you but she will have others.

By definition, you should not pay gringo prices here, as the apartments are mostly destined for Colombian executives.

When I dealt with them a couple of years back, they had 150 apts under management. It's probably more now. They mostly deal with properties in El Poblado.

The one detail which might limit you is internet access. Not many apartments have that as standard. They will add it at your expense, but it's a delay to be dealt with.

The best thing would be to call them a few days in advance of your arrival, give them your criteria and arrange an appointment to see a selection of properties. You can negotiate their prices if you like. Longer duration -> more negotiating power.

"this may seem a strange post but it is not...when in colombia men need to be aware that colombia women may try to be seductive and entice a travelling gringo to have sex with them..to be forewarned is to be forearmed..." -- pow wow

Escape_Artist: sorry to write so late.
yes i have been there, the building is about 15 years old but i am not sure, to me looks pretty good.
The price per month I dont know it either. I stayed there for a week but you can contact them and they will answer you less than 30 minutes.
I can tell you is a nice apartment, the view is beautiful, is about 3 blocks up from parque lleras, so you can walk there and you can walk to metro station too. it is quiet and private. you dont meet other gringos there. you can take in your girlfriend without problem. the staff is nice.
You can try it or try stay in a hotel for few days and look for an apartment for the rest of your visit, like that you can be sure about the place that you want stay.
everyone has different tastes. For me works more than perfect but for you i dont know.
