NarcoTourims

Most hit cities Bogotá, Medellín y Cartagena

There was a program last night called "Septimo día", they wanted to interview Medellín Mayor but he declined. Although I do see the program to be "amarillista" I sumarized a little the problem of narcotourims.

Many foreigners come to Colombia because of cheap illegal drugs prices, from many countries, USA, Canada, UK, Iran etc The iranies after finishing military service are given about USD 4000 an ask them to pick up a Country to travel. Many choose Colombia. A few did not died at the Gaza conflict but did find death in a dark room in any hotel or hostal in Bogotá, Medellín or Cartagena.

In Bogotá I was in a place where the drug was consumed there were mostly Colombians but one foreigner, needless to say there was a brawl and chairs and bottles of beer were going left and right. As the program stated some of the foreigners who come to Bogotá don´t even know Plaza de Bolivar or Gold museum, they spent around 15 days just drinking and using drugs.

For tourims Medellín got and added "attraction", of prepagos, and in the coast there is another attraction, to go to the "cocina" or where cocaine is prepared.

Next Sunday will have a take on Cartagena.

I watched it too WEB. Altought I also find Manuel Teodoro to be a sensacionalist, I think his team made a valid point by showing how those tourists (mostly in their early tweties) just come to snort blow and somke every single thing that can be lit. It made think of PBH a lot last night...
I´m eagerly waiting for next Sunday at 7:30 PM on CARACOL to watch the takes on "Cat-tagena" to see another angle of what I already saw a couple of weeks ago there. Buch of foreigneres looking to score cheap drugs and whores. Nonetheless interesting.
(Oh, and there weren´t Iranians, there were Israelians).

nah, if anything it will bring more tourists to "Cattagena". I don´t think Medellin was left in good standing anyway ...The Escobar tour was interesting. It made me remember of a really conservative Mexican-American friend in Texas (... duh!!) who used to say he wanted to snort a line on Escobar´s grave (didn´t do any drugs), jsut for the heck of it.

You know these "narco labs" have gotten more attention from tourists. When I was hanging out with some Europeans in Bogota, they were interested in checking them out. I have seen pics on the web and tales of the tour on facebook. I am not sure how Uribe and the U.S. Dept. just happens to miss these labs right in front their faces.
You think Uribe could just be looking the other way? Do yuo think the tour of these labs would still be around if they were in Meta or Putumayo?

Smile if you are a thinker!

Sex tourism and drug tourism are a well known plague of Colombia. Nothing new here.

If you factor in airfare and hotel prices they are'nt saving much. Colombia should welcome them with open arms anyway.

robi...common....narco tourismo? sure it's surprising. they don't drag out el ejercito for a few hookers on the street. but when i was out in eastern antioquia, they sure went out in force for qual quier jungle lab.

now, for 20 pesos and a chiva ride, you can make the tour. i have to admit, i've dabbled in party favors for years and i still don't know squat about the production...from leaf to paste to blow. it's all mysterious magic.

What might be also true is that this deaths from overdosis are mostly kept secret.

Tourists - Doing drugs and sleeping with Hookers???? Never happens, does it?

This is a problem that exists everywhere. When your young dumb and have a little money you do all kinds of crazy sh*t outside of your country. The sh%t me and my friends did when travelling through Europe was outrageous and often involved sh&t like this. I met some brazillians the other day travelling through the U.S. and they had just come to Los Angeles from Vegas - their stories sounded pretty outrageous - guess what - they involved drugs and hookers.

Move along nothing exciting here

That´s a powerful Documentary on Cartagena Robi, very sad. INstead of trying to help the poor build a better life where they are, they seem to be beating them back form the tourist areas with a stick. These people are desperate, desperate people take desperate measures which includes robbery and prostitution, it´s just survival.

If your child was sick and you didn´t have any money to pay for the treatment, the baby would die without care, you would do something that you wouldn´t normally do to get that money, no? I know i would.

The sex and drug tourists are not to blame, if there is someone willing to pay for something, you will always find a seller. They should stop saying that the poor people are a problem and start trying to help them.

It´s just the same in Miami. I remember going there stupidly thinking that it would be similar to what you see on TV, well, near the beach is very nice and protected but when i walked 3 or 4 blocks back, i remember thinking, sh*t..i don´t feel safe here, what a sh*t whole and got myself out of there.

Concerning drugs: You should see some of the clubs in Manchester, 90% of the people in there are off their heads and i have only heard about a couple of deaths, i´m yet to see a club in Colombia with the same percentage of people off their heads. Its the BS of Colombia still having a bad name. I was in Mama Africa's in Cusco, the toilets were full of people doing gear and the doorman was selling, don´t hear about the problem of tourists going to Peru to get cheap gear.

Personally, i think alcohol is the secret killer because of the aggression is causes in some people, i wonder what percentage of murders that alcohol has been a part of or a cause?

interestingly enough, we're talking about problems in colombia, not in europe, brazil, peru, las vegas or los angeles. certainly all these and more have their problems and issues. but here, we're trying to address some resolve in the colombian equation.

the outlying areas of almost all metropolitan centers in colombia, are pregnant with crime and poverty. probably without exception. and certainly should not be frequented by the average tourist. patronage of the ladies also feeds the market place as does drug and alcohol use. raising the 'bar' is up to each and every one of us, national and tourist alike.

many use the three above mentioned distractions frequently or modestly. some resort to violence and meyhem others maintain composure and decorum. we each know what catagory we fall in. if in the former, it's evident that work, internally, is called for. if in the latter, your conduct is a model for others. where ever you are in the world. not just colombia. there is no gray area between solutionists and problemists.

I like how colombia says its a foreigner drug use problem. Thats a bunch of political crap. There just as many drug users here percentage wise. Of course if your referring to the money made from selling the cocaine then yes most of the money comes from the usa or actually Mexico where the Colombians sell most of the stuff too. Colombians control much less of the drugs in the states now. Its handed off to the mexicans and other mobs in various countries which make most of the money.

Dirty money runs all the way up to the presidents office. Thats just the reality of Narco Politics in Colombia, Mexico...and the list goes on....No the USA is not perfect either.
