Names of Mixed Drinks in Colombia

I will be heading to Cartagena next friday and I need some help on the names of mixed drinks in spanish. Everytime in Colombia I always order the same thing because I don't know what is the spanish translation of drinks that are well known in the states. Any help on this matter would be helpfull.

I was going to mention that, Kat. Rum (ron en espanol) is very popular on the coast. Even in Medellin many people drink rum.

toneloc24 says on Jul 27, 2005, 13:13:

Oh yeah, in Cartagena Caipirinha - the Brasilian drink of cachaca, limes, and sugar
Mojito - the Cuban drink of rum, mint leaves, limes, sugar, and soda I think

STRONG WARNING: if you are ordering these or any drinks, including bottled water and beer, on the beach of Bocagrande from a short stocky dude, English-speaking Colombian with an annoying eye-twitch and gold tooth named Tony, ask how much each drink costs BEFORE ordering and pay as you go. Do not learn the hard way.

UC/Kat I think I want to own stock in Ron Caldas y Ron Medellin. Oh yeah, and add Aguila to that. They go so great together. One shot of ron, one sip of aguila. LOL!!!

Does anyone here know if in Colombia they have Cranberry and how do you say it in Spanish. Because when I order Absolute with a splash of cranberry, they never know what I am saying.

Cuban? Bacardi is Puerto Rican rum. I always drink Cruzan from the USVI where my friends live. "Cruisin' with Cruzan" is my motto. Or Ron Medellin when in Colombia.

Kat1 you must realise that UTC lives in the US and here they cannot get the real Cuban Bacardi rum, they get a replica made in Puerto Rico.

kernow62 says on Jul 27, 2005, 13:58:

UTC try Pussers from BVI or Appleton's Estate from JA.

utopiacowboy says on Jul 27, 2005, 14:02:

You've clearly had too much Bacardi, Senora. Actually you're right. Bacardi did start out in Cuba and expanded their production facilities to Mexico, Puerto Rico and Brazil. After Castro took power the family fled Cuba and their holdings there including the original distillery were confiscated. Now they produce rum from many places in the world. The rum sold in the US today under the Bacardi label is produced and bottled in Puerto Rico.

utopiacowboy says on Jul 27, 2005, 14:04:

I'm loyal to my friends and the USVI economy depends on rum so I'll stick with Cruzan. Wouldn't mind being there right now - the rum is cheaper than the soda that you mix it with.

So you got all your knowledge from the contents of the bottle? Hmmm, that explains a lot. I hope Larry's getting the benefit of your "knowledge"!

Peter Miami: Cranberry juice: Jugo de Arándano Not very common in Colombia because I send to to my mom for her liver problem, this juice is good for that of course. She found it once somewhere very expensive and this is how they called it.

The fruit cranberry is Arándano
